Check out how the actors have aged. Robin Wright Penn sure doesn’t look anything like Buttercup these days.

I regularly see Rodents of Unusual Size down the road from me.

And . . .

. . . am I the only one saying, “There was a BOOK?!” 😊

"I do not envy you the headache you will have when you awake. But for now, rest well and dream of large women."

“Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t think they exist.”
And . . .

No, you’re not. I was thinking the same thing.

And, does anyone else love the scene in which the king is escorting Princess Buttercup to the castle’s bridal suite? Buttercup goes into great detail about the fact that she’s going to commit suicide once she gets there, and the kind but doddering king responds, “Heh heh heh… SHE KISSED ME!” :rotfl:

We do to! 😉

My fave is:

**" **NEVER argue with a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line! "
“They were both poisoned. I’ve spent the past few years building an immunity to iocane powder.”

The bishop who presided at the wedding:

“Wuv, twoo luv!”
I heard Christopher West speaking on Theology of the Body at a conference, and he actually quoted that bishop: “MOWWIAGE … is a BWOOOTIFUL thing…”

Hilarious.

Prince Humperdinck: [sincerely] Tyrone, you know how much I love watching you work, but I’ve got my country’s 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I’m swamped.
Count Rugen: Get some rest. If you haven’t got your health, then you haven’t got anything.

“do you think it’ll work?”
“naw, it’ll take a miracle”

My sister read the book. She said Buttercup is even ditzier than in the movie.

INCONCEIVABLE!! The Princess Bride turns 20. What are your favorite parts?

One of mine:

Vizzini:
I can’t compete with you physically, and you’re no match for my brains.
Westley: You’re that smart?
Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Westley: Yes.
Vizzini: Morons.
And the rest of that dialog is gut splitting.

“Life is pain, Princess. Anyone who says differently is selling something.” - Dread Pirate Roberts (Wesley)

“What I wouldn’t do for a holocoust cloak.” - Westley

“Will this do?” - Fezzik

I love the whole scene when Westley and Inigo have the sword fight. The dialog in that scene is brilliantly funny.
I have a friend who does fencing and he says the best bit of that scene is the fact that the names they mention are all real 16th century fencing manuals. I finally got to watch it a few weeks ago, friends have been telling me I should watch it for years and I meant to but I just didn’t get an opportunity till recently.
