RF: I don’t know what has happened to how your posts translate after I press my Reply button, but, all of your sentences get strung together without the usual breaks caused by the embedded quotations from the person you are replying to. It’s strange. It only happens on your posts and only recently. I’ve seen this once before, several years ago, and don’t know what that person did to fix it.
And as what the Jesuit said is true-- “Give me a child for his first seven years and I will have them for life”–like any other system relying on hypnotics you don’t need guns.
Interesting. It’s a wonder, then, that the Church has lost any of its billion-plus adherents. So, we’re all brain-washed by Jesuit hypnosis?
I thought you wold like that disclaimer idea. but I doubt that the Magesterium has a monopoly on God’s Word.
Not what I said: but, it does for me.
They put it into books and render it, well, not useful. Not at all. It would mean that we used the brain God gave us, and the heart. It would be a living experience instead of a religion “about.”
Ah. Sort of like Buddhism?
As expected. How could you be? That’s worth a book; I won’t even start here. If I’m reading you correctly–it’s a bit hard here, you are usually very clear, something I admire–but to me the answer is obvious. It couldn’t be, when I was practicing, but now it is. You can only see the box when you step outside it.
I stepped outside it. For many years.
Good call on the JS/Eck connection. Never thought of that one.
Thought you’d like that.

God bless,
jd

D**n! You caught me in a generalization meant to illustrate a point about the acquisition of patterns by a child. Mea Culpa.
Not what I said: but, it does for me.
I know that, which is why I said what I did.

No, like actual Christianity, a name rendered useless by the practice of it beyond the thoughts about it.
I stepped outside it. For many years.
Well, yes, you thought you did. You just cracked the lid. Trust me. That Jebbie has you by the short hairs.
Thought you’d like that.
Yep! 🙂

Best,

Not sure how, but it seems that you fixed the problem. Congratulations. (I don’t know why.):o

Sorry, Bud, but you are to go directly to jail. Do not pass . . . oh well, never mind.
I know that, which is why I said what I did.
Never do that to me again!

I am still curious as to why you say this. I guess you’ll just keep saying it until no one listens, or, we’ll go to our graves never knowing. 🤷
Well, yes, you thought you did. You just cracked the lid. Trust me. That Jebbie has you by the short hairs.
Good! And so does, T.S. Elliott, William Shakespeare, J. R. R. Tolkien, Graham Greene, Samuel Coleridge, and many others.

Thanks. But is that your answer to

I write you an easily decipherable message that has a point, and you don’t even recognize it as such. I submit that by that same mechanism you have adopted the shortsights of your faith and have overlooked profoundly significant material available both therein and elsewhere.
Sorry, Bud, but you are to go directly to jail. Do not pass . . . oh well, never mind.
I know; you think you have a monopoly on Truth. Or if stuck can third party the Church. 🙂 Not with me. I’m talking to you, not the Church.
Never do that to me again!
OK; unless it’s fun.

Well, that is the problem, you see. You don’t see. And many therefor do die without seeing, while they, save for dogma, could have by methods I’ve actually delineated on here in more or less detail. It is the method of self inquiry, which has as one of it’s minor premises this interesting bit: if you do not thoroughly know who and what you are and how your mind in fact works before it has language or programs, you will not have a useful base for considering the contents of your mind especially as regards Deity.

In fact, your understanding will be distorted and have other consequences pertinent to an actual spiritual life. And at this stage what you currently do have as such storage in your memory banks, you can actually use as fuel in the transformation of you awareness into a state of receptivity not accessible by formalized religion of any kind. Understanding comes from doing. Insight comes to such a person as a Grace, after Wisdom. I mean it is a Grace anyway, but sometimes God gives you a hot foot when you are not expecting it. But then if your brain is addled with irrelevant stuff, you just think your open door back into a closed one by stuffing it back into your dogmas. Then all you have is a litter of poopies. The way to Gnothi Seauton is to know you don’t know and then don’t let intellectualisms bring you back down. You know, like the story about the lobsters.
Good! And so does, T.S. Elliott, William Shakespeare, J. R. R. Tolkien, Graham Greene, Samuel Coleridge, and many others.
Well good. Some of them nearly made it out or made a good effort. Try St. Teresa of Avila if you feel constrained to stay within the bounds of the Faith. But first read at least some biographies about her, the less pious the better. Those may give you valuable information as to her writings if you are astute. Then read those golden drops from her heart-dipped pen.

Best,

RF
