Of course you would both agree, you are both Protestant. A good rule of thumb would be to know that Jesus Christ established the Catholic church. One sheep, one fold.
Until you’re ok with Buddhist Episcopalian Female bishops, same-sex ‘marriages,’ replacing the Stations of the Cross with measuring your carbon footprint, priestesses, yoga, anything man can do women can do better, giving condoms to Africans, turning a blind eye to abortion, embracing stem cells as a panacea, and embracing that liberal, ambiguous, androgonous, politically-correct agenda of the left-leaning type Protestants, you will be considered the bad guy. Notice I say left-leaning Protestants. Many Protestants in here are as conservative if not more than Catholics at times. But some denominations are almost indistinguishable from typical American society a la the Episcopal Church.

Keep your chin up, dude. You’re a good guy!👍:

As the Protestants abandoned their traditions over the century culminating in the past decade of their acceptance of radical feminism and homosexuality, their voice as the primary guide of american culture grew faint, untill today is it a whisper among the shouts produced by the likes of environmentalism. They abandoned the wisdom of their fathers. They thought they could see far because they were tall not realizing they could see far because they were on their forefather’s shoulders. They are just beginning to realize they aren’t very tall after all, just waiting to see if they recognize how high the shoulders were they got off of.🤷
I have read much lately about acceptance of radical feminism, homosexuality, eco-sprituality, reiki, gender neutral Liturgies, enneagram, labyrinth walking, and mandalas---------in the Roman Catholic Church. :hmmm:

No no no. Mickey, you are wrong there. The pope said HATE THE SIN, LOVE THE SINNER. That does not mean we accept sin, Never never never in the RCC! The RCC is here to help souls get back on the right track with God. Like Jesus the CHurch is here for sinners.

On another note the reason we as RCC go to Church is not to boast but is to ask God for help. If we were to boast we would not need the Church.

As spoken by someone who doesn’t understand protestants. First of all there are several types of protestants. Some hold to traditions such as Lutherians others do not such as baptist. Certain protestant churches that are considered “liberal” by other denominations have accepted what you state. The fact is not all or even most protestants buy into redical feminism or homosexuality. Think of that one baptist church that preaches at servicemens funerals that has been on the news of late because they claim dead soldiers are God’s punishment on america for allowing homosexuality to be practiced.
However, isn’t it worse for catholics to be accepting of these very things? I know several parishoners that hold to the point of view that homosexuality is ok. Or liberal Catholics that believe that the church is extreme on its theology but still attend Mass and maintain lenten devotions. They are given the truth but don’t accept it. They have an outward appearance of peity but inwardly wink at sin. Whats worse?

As a general rule in America the denominations which hold onto the most Catholic like traditions are those whose leadership is most open in their suppport of outted gay clergy, abortion rights and the entire package of the American political left. And it is that so called “mainline” Protestant Church which is losing the most Christian brothers and sisters.

However when talking to nonbelievers you often hear that they wish all Christians, meaning fundamentalist, could be like the inclusive mainline liberal Christian.

No no no. Mickey, you are wrong there. The pope said HATE THE SIN, LOVE THE SINNER.
Yes, yes, yes rinnie. I was making a point. It is painful to see the arrogance toward non-Catholics. All have sinned.

A bloated ego is a terrible passion.

My friend, there you go again with your name calling, and you say we Catholics should be charitable? Why, Protestants shouldn’t be? Because you are not. I am far from angry my friend, I go to Mass every day during Lent and I am filled with a joy God has given me that I can’t describe. This is Holy Week and I will be at church all day all week, and I will be doing other things that Jesus wouldn’t want me to boast about.
Your very words speak volumes. I haven’t called you any name at all. I have described your behavior which is strange. Strange to try to start an argument because I compliment another person on his restraint and calm manner. And now you wish me to know how pious you are. I’m sure you are. I’m sure you have read in the bible about others who wanted everyone to know just how pious they were as well. I’m sure you know what Jesus had to say about them.

What an outstanding post, Benadam. Don’t let Spirit Meadow and company use that “offensive, hurtful, hateful, spiteful” accusation. Whenever you differ with them and challenge the protestant fall from grace theologically, they go to pieces.

Protestants like George W. Bush who was staunchly against stem cell research and the homosexual agenda as well as pro-abstinence in sex eduation while not towing the line with passing out condoms in Africa shows that Protestants are indeed capable of having great wisdom that can often appear in line with Catholic teaching. But, sadly, most Protestants I know are perfectly fine with divorce, many condone homosexuality and believe it a biological imperative, so many are fine with cohabitation and “trial marriages,” as well as feminism and lady priestesses, men vs. women and other nonsense.

As a Catholic, I find many things about our Church that I think are lacking and need reform. When Protestants I know tell me they think Catholicism lacks the fellowship opportunities that their churches have, I don’t get offended. I agree. When non-Catholics tell me that our Church has had a terrible sex abuse scandal that was poorly dealt-with and covered up in a sickening way, I agree. Many people criticize the RCC for a weakened pastoral presence and I tend to agree there also. Catholicism has many areas of needed reform—particularly our English Mass and some of the lousy music choices and free-flowing Baptisty music we have. Why is it that we can take criticism about Catholicism but to criticize and Episcopalian or Methodist, etc. brings the fires of Hades down?🤷

Great post.👍
You see, because in the end, your opinion about any Protestant church is but your opinion, and Jesus was rather clear about worrying about the mote in your own eye before you spend your time catigating what you think is the mote in your neighbors. That might be a good reason to stop the Protestant bashing and concentrate on those things we share in common and how we can further the work of the Kingdom. Just a thought, but I know it’s so much more satisfying to point fingers.

Many of these practices are found in the RCC. Our local Franciscan Retreat Center offers reiki, and yoga. The oldest known labyrinth is found in Paris at the Cathedral of Chartres I believe. Enneagrarm is very common in many convents from my own experience.

Many hear speak for an extreme form of orthodoxy not practiced by the vast majority of Catholics, clergy, religious or laity in the US. Of course many people here, believe they should leave the Church to them and allow the Church to be as they put it “pure”.

I just wonder at why orthodoxy here is synonymous with putting down in the most mean manner possible anyone who doesn’t agree with them. There is no “turn the other cheek” here. Just plenty of “admonishing the sinner” which I guess is a lot more satisfying to the ego.

But see that is my point Mickey, To say that you are going to spend more time in Church, or more time praying does not show arrrogance towards Non- Catholics. It shows that we need our Church to help us become better people and get closer to God.

For me to say to you right now that I need to spend more time in Church this week (which I do, and I am going to do) is not boasting. It means I don’t want to waste this week fighting with others. I want to concentrate on the suffering of Jesus this week, and want Us all to do that. If I say to you I am going to spend my time this week in Church it means thats why I won’t be on the threads as much. I am sure thats what everyones point is. ANd thats why I myself will be on less and others also. ITs a important week, Its Holy Week and we should all try to get to church as much as possible thats all.

ITs just what we means is its a real busy week. We as Catholics have alot of Holy Days thats all.

God Bless you all and have a Blessed Easter.

Yes the ones that hold onto Catholic like traditions like the Episcopals but even there there is backlash and they are fighting this trend. You’re right most non-believers want christians fundalmentalist or not to be like them; condemned already. Just like the Greeks wanted the Jews to be immoral during the Selucid reign. Or the Romans wanted the Christians to stop saving discarded babies due to imperfections or releasing slaves. So how do you view the fundalmentalist in relation to the country and Catholicism?

You assume I have a narrow view. Your post didn’t address a thing a wrote. Most protestants don’t buy into that stuff I know. But wake up bro, The loudest, meaning the most powerfull, protestant voices have, because most of you have abandoned your traditions and the radical fenminists and homosexuals sit in their vacant structures and dictate what you ‘all’ sound like whether you like it or not…

A multitude even most catholics could believe wrongly but our tradition is not abandoned by us and what is taught in their structures is still the true faith.

The loudest and most powerful voices? The loudest are all over worldwide television and they are the opposite of what you say. The most powerful may hold a bishop’s title in a mainstream Protestant Church, thus their aparent power, but conservatives in their home denominations are just months or a few years at best from breaking away and reorganizing under a new leadership team.

So tradition, or following a ritual is more important then how we live and what we support? Is kneeling and making the sign with holy water instead of lfting your hands and babbling in a tongue give license to support leaders who support abortion rights, same sex marriage, stem cell research on harvested babies etc, but then claim you follow the Pope does that make faith more true?

Reap what you sow. Christ founded the Catholic church, did you know that?

I have not seen anyone being admonished for spending more time in Church or prayer.

Of course not.

Our Holy Week begins April 13. 😃

I misread this statement squarebaby. Disregard my earlier response. It will be like planting a sapling that will take generations to grow into tree big eneogh to provide shade and for the birds to nest. That’s if you are of one mind and are able to incorporate the symbols of your beliefs into common life and, if it shapes and structures your communities.

You called me bro so I’ll call you dude.

Dude, I did answer your post. BTW I’m Catholic but newly returned however I will not countenance an incorrect view of the Protestant position. You’re only viewing what the medial is focusing on. Though most protestants don’t believe it they also have their traditions in the Catholic perspective. The fact is the vast majority of Protestants are agains these things. The Episcopals an off shoot of Methodist some Lutherans. But you have a large group of protestants out there that (are powerful like the SBC and the AG) that are entirely against what you suppose sit in their pulpits
