I like your tone. Look I do not go to church, in fact in the last ten years I have been in church only two or three times. I do study the scripture with a special interest in prophecy; therefor, I know who, and how I have to worship. The answer to your question is no, I do not worship or have any images because I worship Christ by applying his teachings to my life. We could pray to God only and not try to apply Christ’s teachings to our lives, and the general believe will be there is only one God. My understanding of the scripture is that if we do not apply Christ teachings to our lives there will be no spiritual growth because with our behavior we are praising other gods. I think Mary is a goodess? NO. But why is mary the only god of most Mexicans? You tell me.
ladies and gents of the Jury, honorable judge, I REST MY CASE

and true mexican catholics honor and dont worshipMary, but i dont intend for you to understand.

AND IF YOU DONT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, PLEASE DONT SAY NOTHING, BECAUSE YOU SOUND PLAIN SILLY

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN OF THE JURY, YOUR HONOR…I REST MY CASE.
RICARDO, YOU ARE NOT A CATHOLIC, NOT A TRUE CATHOLIC, BECAUSE IF YOU WERE YOU WILL FOLLOW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND NOT YOUR OWN INTERPRETATIONS.

GO FOLLOW YOUR CRAZY MARY WORSHIPING RELIGION, START YOUR OWN CHURCH OR STUDY BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH.
AND YES AS A MEXICAN I TAKE THIS SERIUSLY, NO WANDER YOU ARE SO CONFUSE OF WHAT YOU SEE (YOU THINK HONORING MEANS WORSHIPING)

AND MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOUL (IF YOU ARE WANDERING, YES I AM A LAWYER)

Ricardo Gomez:
I am going start collecitng data, please mention the cities and state where this advice is coming from.
GOD BLESS YOU.
VATICAN CITY

I was thinking more into the Mexican territory type of research, but I am going to start with Mexican Americans since worshipping of Mary and the Saints is also well practiced here in the states. In fact, in Chicago, under a freeway, there is an image like a Virgin, univision did a report on that and they have footage of people worshipping the so call Mary image.

A lawyer? Where? In Mexico? Are there real lawyers over there now? I am sorry I was not aware of such a social change, I mean I have been away for so long that I am speechless. I have done a couple of cases here in the states IN PRO PER, but I am not sure if I could do the same thing over there. Do they do legal research? Or is case law valid over there now? Did the proposal for change in the criminal procedure ever came through?

At any rate, please do not get mad, I mean you don’t worship the Virgin Mary or any images right? Show me something of spiritual content. Because you might trick your self by saying “we do not worship the virgin mary or any images”, but you know better.
GOD BLESS YOU. FOR REALS MAN.

I think the word YOU ARE looking for is FANATIC.

Did you know that attending Mass is obligatory? How sad that you have only received the Eucharist two or three times in the last ten years. 😦

The link I posted before is to the Vatican homepage. You don’t get much higher up than there as far as Catholicism is concerned. The church does allow for the native cultures to color the way Catholics view the church but it does not allow those cultures to change the law of the church. You can research the Mexican traditions and by all means I encourage you to do so, but that will not have much bearing on the law of the Catholic church. You see the Catholic church “hangs it’s hat” on the idea that it is one unified body. That means that no one parish or region much less a country can split off and make their own rules. Deciding to worship one of the saints would be a big No-No as far as what the Vatican teaches (see my exert form the Catechism). If you do this you are no longer Roman Catholic. Please bear this in mind as you do your research.

I hope that this path helps you grow in your faith, wherever that may take you (possibly even to us silly protestants 😛 ).

Ricardo Gomez:
I Am A Mexican Catholic, And In My Culture We Worship The Virgin Mary. It Is Like A Big Celebration Known All Over The World.

When A Protestant Brother Ask Me Why Do We Worship The Virgin Mary, And If My Answer Is “we Do Not Worship The Virgin Mary”, Such An Answer Will Be Considered Plain Silly, And Far From Reality.

It Could Be A Cultural Issue, I Do Not Know. What I Know Is Our Mary Is A Strong Part Of Our Culture With Worshipping And Everything That Comes With It.
SEE WHAT I MEAN???
ADIOS , LAST THREAD HERE.

Sorry one more post.

Mr. Gomez,

I am an American of mexican decent. I live in a predominent hispanic area close to the mexican border. In my years living here, I have been in conversations with many people that were either born and raised in Mexico and now reside here in the U.S., or are first, second, etc. generation americans. Never have I heard any of them say that in Mexico they were taught to “worship” our Holy Mother or that they on their own worship her. As I mentioned in an earlier post they hold our Holy Mother in very high esteem because she brought them into cristianity.

You mentioned “mandas”. Here in my neck of the woods this is refered to as “promesas”. The people ask our Holy Mother to intercede for them when a family member is ill or they are experiencing a rought time. They in turn do something on their part which is considered pleasing to our Lord Jesus and our Holy Mother. (What pleases Him , pleases Her) .Some will even walk on their knees " as you have mentioned" and offer this sacrifice to our Lord Jesus. They know very well and acknowledge that when she helps them it is thru the grace given to her by God.

You Mr. Gomez, have made some terrible statements concerning the mexican people. You have made them look like heretics to the people of this forum. Some here now believe they do not belong to the same Catholic Church. “You” have made accusations that the mexican people are not here to defend against, and by what - what you’ve seen on tv.

All your comments Mr. Gomez have led me to one conclusion, "
You are not Catholic". You are here to disparage our love for our Holy Mother.

I am done now - Good Bye.

Bla-bla-bla-bla. Thanks for nothing. Check Miguel Hidalgo I. Costilla along with the meaning of the Virgin Mary.

I am not able to get communion because I am married with a beautiful girl, who did not have the opportunity to learn the Catholic doctrine due to the fact that her mother been a non-practicing Catholic went to the protestant church, but did not last long in there either. She is attending meetings so she can get ready for our religious wedding in the Catholic Church. (we are married only in a civil manner)
