Do any of you recite and pray the psalms? What are your favorites and what has helped you and have been beneficial to you in your life. Has anyone read/prayed the Song of Songs from the Bible? And if so what was your experiences with both the psalms and the Song of Songs?

I pray the Liturgy of the Hours so yes, I recite and pray the Psalms. My favorites are Psalms 51 and 139:
51 - this penitential Psalm is prayed every Friday morning in the LotH and I look forward to it every week. It reminds me of my lowliness and of God’s Mercy.
139 - this Psalm speaks of the wonder in which we are created and how much God loves us and even seeks after us. It challenges me to know that I am Loved which, in my depression and low self-esteem, I have great difficulty accepting.

I have read and prayed the Song of Songs but it has been so long since that I don’t remember the experience.

I’m with @Mary_Ellen as far as praying the Liturgy of the Hours. You’re exposed to lots and lots of Psalms! I love Psalm 139 as well. It can be very comforting if you’re feeling a bit low. Also Psalm 121 – I lift my eyes to the mountains. And Psalm 42 – Like the deer that yearns for running streams, so my soul is yearning for you, my God.

The Psalms are so beautiful and so honest. They express such a wide range of emotions. They’ve taught me a lot about prayer.

I also pray the Liturgy of the Hours. I have many psalms I love, it would be difficult to pick a favourite, it depends on the circumstances. The Song of Songs also come up in the readings from time to time.
