IMHO it probably saddens God that we ended up killing and consuming His creatures, because it doesn’t seem to be what he intended.
And what teaching from the Bible, or from the Church, is it said that God did not intend to have man not eat animals? How do you back up this opinion?

How are we defining “Vegan” as opposed to “Vegetarian”?

I wouldn’t go vegan even if I was being paid to.

I don’t think I’d like to give up sausages and steak for soy burgers and celery sticks.
As an athlete I don’t think it would help my performance either.

I am thinking that while we are able to utilize many things in creation that does not necessitate the conclusion that they were created specifically for us and have no other purpose or meaning.

We are rather new on the scene even though the apex of creation from our perspective
Man and the animals were together created in the light of the sixth day. I think that’s why Adam could name them. There must have been the kind of union between man and animals that Adam needed to learn that no animal could satisfy his need for companionship. Obviously the relationship between man and animals then was profoundly different. There was no hostility. I think that animals had a sense of who man is. The one of them that is the image of God.

Hi, I backed it up by mentioning Genesis 1:29 and 30 - the earliest scriptures on the subject of food for consumption, in which God gave both man and animals plants for food.

I wasn’t intending to say that it’s still God’s command, or any part of church teaching, especially and notably in light of the scene in the Acts of the Apostles where Peter had the ‘Kill and eat’ vision.

I only think if someone feels they want to revert to the earliest vegetarian diet, that is OK. But if not, that is OK too.

There is no question that most animals exist for other carnivore animals to eat.

PETA stands for People Eating Tasty Animals.

But seriously, we know that Jesus used to barbecue fish for his friends to eat.

And since He was a devout Jewish boy and man, then he ate lamb.

This is contrary to what you said before: "IMHO it probably saddens God that we ended up killing and consuming His creatures, because it doesn’t seem to be what he intended."

How is God sadden? What Bible or teaching does it say that God did not INTEND man to kill and eat animals. Gen 1:29-30 does not say or imply that God does not intend man to eat meat.

Ended up eating meat? That implies man ate meat on his own initiative contrary to God’s wishes.

God issues his commands according to and when it is His Will. How is God saddened by His own teaching? Does God permitting us to eat meat after the Flood contradict Gen 1:29-30? and pork after Peter’s dream?

Veganism goes beyond that. The term was coined in 1944 and a Vegan society formed. It referred to “non-dairy vegetarians.” But since 1951, the movement morphed into a philosophy that is decidedly contrary to Catholic teaching. Veganism as become a pseudo-religion today.

Because of that, Christians really cannot be vegans philosophically. Thus, Christians ought not to use that term due to possible misunderstanding and scandal.

Those Christians who eat no animals products at all are better to call themselves “Strict Vegetarians.”

I think it does sadden God when our meat eating causes His creatures to live in environments that don’t allow them to be what they are. One example would be chickens living their lives out in teeny cages that prevent them from ever getting to be a chicken. Many other examples of animals living lives completely removed and unnatural.

I agree, but that is a separate subject, an important subject, but different than the “sadden” comment that was made and that we are discussing.

If you don’t cage chickens they will be eaten by foxes, hawks, and other critters.

You can make the chicken coops quite luxurious. Lots of running around room.

Some people say that chickens are stupid. Non-wild turkeys may be stupider.

Actually it comes under the purpose of animals topic.

Do you eat pork? Pigs are suffocated to death in gas chambers pumped full of carbon monoxide.

Chickens are strung upside down, past over a saw blade that cuts their throats, and down the processing line they go. Guess how many per hour are slaughtered that way.

Cattle and sheep, in kill pens, or in live ship transport.

How about the fur market, or the dolphin slaughter in Japan.

The purpose of animals was never this.

This is the cruelty of us.

Free range is the biggest lie of corporate commercialism. In my country, the Govt is just catching on to this scam… poultry can free range safely during the day with technology or good old fashioned herd guards.

How is it a seperate subject? I would say it is a constructive developement of the subject.
I thought the purpose of animals was the subject. Also, we are morally accountable for how we treat animals we eat. Causing an animal unnecessary suffering is sin. More grave than over eating it I think.

Oh Ye who thinks his meat was humanely slaughtered, ever worked in an slaughter house?

I think as long as they get to walk around flap their wings, you know, peck the ground socialize a little while we grow them. Yeah? I’m far far from being knowledgeable about the industry.
