i used to work in a hotel business and i never asked if the couple is married before to rent the room for them, but when renting the flat for long term, - should I ask if they are married?

what if they are not married but look OK,look normal and payable?
I could announce my proposition in the christian communities but , its not the fact that i will find the payable custommers. But at least I do have a right to know if they are married? right?
When broker will hear it, she will be bewildered, but - do I not have a right to ask if they are married or they live in sin?

I rented already once the 2-rooms-flat for two unmarried girls, one asked me once , if its OK , if her boy friend who works abroad will arrive for a week or two, and will live in the flat?
I was not against, because I was soft unfortunately, but I feel like I am justifying the way of their life.
So, for now I decided to take a married couple, but what if they are not registered?

I don’t know how it is where you are. In the US, I believe it would actually even be illegal not to rent to someone for reasons of not being married.

Will you require all renters to produce a current marriage license? Renting rooms is your business, you are not responsible for the martial status of the renters. Take the payment, hand them the key and wish them a pleasant stay.

I think it would greatly depend on the laws of your country. You may not be able to deny tenancy on the basis of marital status.

I knew a guy who sublet an apartment with two other females. He had to pretend he was gay or the landlord was going to kick him out. Oh boy the hilarity that ensued.

I agree with pensmama’s post here.

I would check with the housing laws in your area.

Yes, it probably is illegal to do this in the US, but usually unless someone actually comes asking about it or complains, does it become an issue.

A good friend of mine owns a handful of homes and apartment buildings, since she is Pentecostal, she will not rent to a homosexual couple, the one time she did have a a gay couple apply, she rejected them of course, but did not mention it was due to them being gay,

I guess its sort of like a job application, by law, they cannot reject someone for certain things, but then again the hiring company can choose any number or reasons (or no reason at all) to reject someone, I dont believe they are under any requirement to disclose the reasons for rejection.(at least not in my state).

That being said, I would probably lean toward giving the prospective tenants the benefit of the doubt, unless I was absolutely certain of something sinful about the rearrangements, e.g. “Pensmama, I’m so glad your apartment is so conveniently located. My wife will never know about the affair I plan on conducting here.”

Everyone here has made good points.

Rent the room. If they are sinning, that is God’s department.

yea, but we talk about long term rent.
in long term rent , i might not even like the potential custommers, and i have a right to refuse.

yes, i was thinking in this way.
its not my business, if they divorce, or if they re-divorce.
i need to see passports, to see them as a normal people, and OK.
the thing is with unmarried couples that the bachelors come on false pretend as a couple, but in reality its just a single guy, who makes parties, guests, but the family - the married couple is more trust-worthy. i must think about it. thanks for the answers.
