The Quran speaks true in some verses.

For example, they aren’t supposed to have beverages made from fermented grapes. This is a prohibition against drinking alcohol, but my husband just drinks beer and brandy, but no wine because wine comes from grapes.
You might want to tell your husband most brandy is distilled wine and is therefore made from grapes. 😉

Ha! that’s funny! 🙂 No I won’t tell him that. I don’t want to encourage him.

I don’t bother to tell him about how biscuits, cornbread and pie crust are made with lard (pig fat) either. Or if the deer sausage he is eating contains pork.😃 I’m not trying to be dishonest, I just know it would just ruin it for him if he knew.

My favorite is “No, honey. Not red wine. Red wine vinegar. It’s a totally different thing.”

One August Knight aka 🙂

that is quite interesting to say the least. the fear is not good, well fear afraid and fear respect I guess are 2 different things.

what do you or (anyone else)
say about the statement or understanding dont know what it is, But that Jews, Christians, Muslims all really worship the same God of Abraham.

Only that each see Him differently?

ps are Muslims “big” on the Holy Spirit at all? my minds just wandering on the 3 thing, if its too wandered, please tell it to come back 😃

Well God appears to prefer that men love Him and fear disappointing Him. But repenting because you are terrified of Hell is another, less ideal way of receiving His forgiveness.

I agree that the 3 major monotheistic faiths worship the same God. The Catholic Church has the clearest understanding of God, and the rest have different degrees of misunderstanding in that matter. I guess you could say differently, I prefer to say with more or less clarity.

That being said I still don’t believe that the Qur’an was revealed by God or an angel. It’s not a continuation of Judaism and/or Christianity. The Qur’an is an extreme heresy, the only monotheistic religion that I could compare the philosophy of it to is maybe what the JWs preach.

Muslims are not big on the Holy Spirit as Christians see Him. Allah is Allah and that is it. The Holy Spirit is mentioned once in the Qur’an as in “Jesus was strengthened by the Holy Spirit.” The footnote clarifies that the Holy Spirit here is an angel, elsewhere Gabriel, who gives Jesus Divine revelation.

So I guess the Holy Spirit gets demoted in the Qur’an also.

Very well put and reasoned. I suppose I would say a human being is not an idol in the context Islam …or your husband is looking at it. It is not a graven image or other physical property typical idols are. We are living creature in the image of our Creator with Free Will.
My husband doesn’t get the story. He says Islam is pretty clear. Nothing (not even a rock or animal) is to prostrate itself to anyone or anything except Allah. Ever. I’ll try to find some quotes, or I’ll ask him.

I think the Islamic explanation he told me was that since it was right after God breathed into man, the angels weren’t really prostrating themselves to man, but to God’s breath. But that sounded pretty weak to my husband, and it does to me also. That whole verse can easily looked at as Satan being deceived
If Peter had disobeyed God when commanded to eat of those things previously forbidden in his vision would be a similar transgression. It was a lawful and justified command as are all things from God as long as they are from God.
That’s fine to help us to understand, but it won’t help muslims understand their Qur’an because they don’t think that bible verse is true. Plus in Peter’s vision he didn’t want to eat at first, but God clarified things for him. In the Qur’anic story, Satan says no and gets sent to Hell
There is always hope for his and others souls. Ultimately I believe this:
Matthew 12:31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
I’m not sure even the most misguided jihadist is blaspheming the Holy Spirit, so I think Christs forgiveness is broader than many might think. It gives me hope.
Thank you. I am confident he is coming closer to God, he is afraid because he is getting further from Islam and feels further from God. He despairs when he reads this story in the Qur’an because he sees why Satan would not think it right to bow to man. And he doesn’t want to empathize with Satan.
I was of the same mind about 10 years ago when I started to study Islam. I think what really did it for me was contemplating Matthew 4:1-11 in relation to Mohameds first visitation. I could not get past why Mohamed was ‘chosen’ as a prophet in the manner he was chosen, and then why Mohamed did the things he did in the name of allah.
I agree. Muhammad isn’t of the right lineage to be a prophet, nobody prophesied his coming, he was a pagan before he became a “prophet”, he didn’t follow the laws he changed them to suit himself. The angel thing is nothing like the divine revelation in Judaism. Plus there is what Paul said about messages from angels. . .
My first conclusion is that the allah descibed in the Quran is not I AM, not just becasue allah rejects Jesus as Son but because allah gets so much else wrong. My second conclusion off the first was that if allah is not God Mohamed is either a 100% liar and charlatan, or his experience is largely true but is to be understood differently than how Mohamed took it.
I half-way agree. I think that the speaker who refers to himself as Allah is not I AM, but I think that when Allah is referred to in third person it is Satan either lying about or making a mockery of the God of Abraham and His True Church.

Even with the gnostic texts that influenced Mohameds view of Christianity some things I think are beyond his capacity to conclude on his own, particularly the nature of Satan and his words in the Koran that you have quoted. The subtly of deception is too exact and purposefull for an illiterate to fashion himself, but not for an evil spirit counting on the corruptability of man. Mohamed was not the smartest camel in the pack, but was charasmatic and fairly respected by his home town before the first call and seems a logical choice for deception because he was sincere but ignorant, petty, and supersticious.
I am right with you here, except I am not 100% certain Muhammad was illiterate. After all, he was a successful businessman for quite a long time before this nonsense started. Did his wife run the business without him, or did he do all his business without ever learning to read and write?

I think Muhammad’s zealousness is the biggest indicator of other worldly intervention. I mean, he spends most of his life being your average Arabian pagan he had money and a life and everything, and then he just flips out and starts preaching and trying to conquer everything.

Oh, and the “beauty” of the Qur’an and seeing an angel? I’ve heard more than once that Lucifer was created as the most beautiful angel in Heaven. Not sure if that is scripture or tradition. But evil has to look pretty good, or else who would choose it?
When reading the Quran and history of Mohamed in that context it makes a lot more sense in the good vs evil big picture. Some things are just wrong and some things are just right.
Islam is not right even if everything else is wrong.
It’s also very telling that Muslims refer to themselves as slaves of Allah, instead of servants or sons and daughters. It always reminds me of being enslaved by sin, until we were freed by Christ.

I don’t want to believe that Satan has that kind of power on earth, and that he is the major influence on a huge world religion. But you are right, it makes a lot more sense, historically and religiously. It just is very sad, and it appears dark days are ahead in regards to our relations with Islam.

And there is no way Islam could be right. But luckily not everything else is wrong, we have Catholicism.😉

Well God appears to prefer that men love Him and fear disappointing Him. But repenting because you are terrified of Hell is another, less ideal way of receiving His forgiveness.
hmm yes, mind you almost dont wanna bring it up (as Im protestant although without a home) but the fundys seem to have that area kinda covered too. something to get along on? 😃 too optimistic?

I just wnat to make sure Im following you here, you are including Catholic as the 3, as in Christian? then the other 2? or is there 4?, if you want that, I know theres strong feelings about that so whatever, I dont want this to derail. The thing is its been said the 3 main religions, Christian, Jew, Muslim are the same God, Ive heard people say Allah cannot be God, because of this fear, but I wonder if its that or simply Allah is another god altogether?
That being said I still don’t believe that the Qur’an was revealed by God or an angel. It’s not a continuation of Judaism and/or Christianity. The Qur’an is an extreme heresy, the only monotheistic religion that I could compare the philosophy of it to is maybe what the JWs preach.
not a continuation sounds right, Im wondering what about Ismael who was sent away with the brother, didnt it start from him?? In other words a family fued of sorts? Just checking things Ive heard 🙂

ok I had this thought Jews-God Christians-Jesus Muslims-well I guess not  enquiring minds 🙂 Maybe if they had the Holy Spirit then they would find Gods Love ? 🙂

I hope you find a home if you are looking for one. I have no problems getting along with protestants;)

Sorry I think of non-Catholic Christians as my brothers and sisters in Christ and have a hard time thinking of them as different, separate religions. So “Catholic” kind of slips out when I mean all Christians.🤷 Call it wishful thinking, it would be great if we could all worship together.

The Catholic Church teaches that the Muslims worship the same God as Christians, but understand him imperfectly. That is correct. They pray to the Creator, and understand Him to be the One and only Creator revealled in the Old and New Testement. They are just very wrong about His character.

Someone who refers to themselves as “Allah” speaks in first person in the Qur’an, but gets facts wrong and says things that are blatantly evil. The Allah muslims worship is God, the one speaking in the Qur’an is not God, even though Muslims think they are one and the same Allah, they are not.

Muslims don’t usually think we worship they same God, because they are not Trinitarian. That’s a Catholic thing (the same God thing), and it looks like it’s caught on with most Protestants.
not a continuation sounds right, Im wondering what about Ismael who was sent away with the brother, didnt it start from him?? In other words a family fued of sorts? Just checking things Ive heard 🙂
That’s what muslims claim and there is nothing wrong with believing the Arabs descended from Ismael, plenty of Christians do and Jews also. But the claim that Muhammad descended from Ismael is unsubstantiated and suspect. The “geneologies” that trace him to Ismael are 15 to 30 generations, which makes the timeline impossible. From Abraham to Jesus was 42 generations, I think, and Muhammad was about 600 years after that.
ok I had this thought Jews-God Christians-Jesus Muslims-well I guess not  enquiring minds 🙂 Maybe if they had the Holy Spirit then they would find Gods Love ? 🙂
Since God loves everyone, I’m sure Muslims will have the opportunity to come to know Him, well enough to choose between Heaven and Hell anyway. If they only understood Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, :crying: . My personally intentions for nearly every Mass and Rosary is the conversion of the Muslims.

I think they need our love because their religion suffers from such a lack of it.

My husband doesn’t get the story. He says Islam is pretty clear. Nothing (not even a rock or animal) is to prostrate itself to anyone or anything except Allah. Ever. I’ll try to find some quotes, or I’ll ask him.
A true shame.

Yes, we do. 🙂

Your response is sobering in large part because you are married to a Muslim. If I may ask…did either of you think that you would win the other over to your faith either secretly or up front to each other about it? The Quran is full of threats about such things.

Do you think this book would be read if offered?

I share your saddness and concern of how the future may be with respect to Islam. I don’t know if Satans influence on Islam is power in the sense it makes him stronger, but I am convinced Satan did influence Mohamed and the result is human and spiritual tragedy.

I hope you find a home if you are looking for one. I have no problems getting along with protestants;)

Nice, I hear you very well. One day God will sort us out. I hate the separation, when I stumbled here chasing down info on a chick tract, it was because I didnt think he should be saying bad things about fellow christians. I wasnt even really aware what the term protestant meant. Thought it was a old term I remember from elementary school forms, I remember not knowing then, so I wrote christian. Then again they asked where I was born and I put the hospital name. I also asked my hubby after watching Shindlers List, Gee that was a good movie, that Steven Speilburg is he Jewish? Maybe Im dumb, or Id rather think blessed, my hubby keeps saying Im amazing, hes so nice 😃 😉

That is good.

This is where the debate I guess comes in? I didnt know there was 2 Allahs? what does the other Allah speak like? are they both in the Qur’an? Or is it something you see? This is quite interesting, if Im tiring you out let me know please. Im a huge U2 fan and they were also making this all worship the same God technically thing part of their statements. So I guess Ive heard it before and it seems right on the surface, but just a skeptic at heart so Im digging a bit. 🙂 even though I adore them
Muslims don’t usually think we worship they same God, because they are not Trinitarian. That’s a Catholic thing (the same God thing), and it looks like it’s caught on with most Protestants.
Aww well I guess Catholics could maybe have a idea every so often 😃 😉 some may not admit it, some do, we probably have something to learn from each other.
That’s what muslims claim and there is nothing wrong with believing the Arabs descended from Ismael, plenty of Christians do and Jews also. I didnt know there was a claim on Muhammad descending from Ismael (thanks for spelling) Is it important that he did??

Arabs descending seems like the logical thing, so it is a accepted theory or is it a fact?
Since God loves everyone, I’m sure Muslims will have the opportunity to come to know Him, well enough to choose between Heaven and Hell anyway. If they only understood Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, My personally intentions for nearly every Mass and Rosary is the conversion of the Muslims.
I think they need our love because their religion suffers from such a lack of it.
yea it seems they are close but far away. mind you they are not the only ones who have a problem with the cross. That seems like the bone of contention for many. Thats why its so bad that christians cant get it together, we’d be a terrific witness. But then again maybe they would feel ganged up on, may be better to take em one at a time.

I understand there is information about the BVM in the Quaran that is not in the Bible. I have not read it myself and am looking forward to doing so 🙂

Quran

019.016
Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.

019.017
She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.

019.018
She said: “I seek refuge from thee to (Allah) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah.”

019.019
He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.

019.020
She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?”

019.021
He said: “So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’:It is a matter (so) decreed.”

019.022
So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.

019.023
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): “Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!”

019.024
But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee;

019.025
"And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.

019.026
“So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to (Allah) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being’”

019.027
At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!

019.028
“O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!”

019.029
But she pointed to the babe. They said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?”

019.030
He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;

019.031
"And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;

019.032
"(He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable;

019.033
“So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)”!

019.034
Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.

019.035
It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, “Be”, and it is.

019.036
Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight.

What do you think?
I would wish to read it for myself but thank you for taking the time to quote it. Of course, it may be the case that it was taken from the Bible anyhow, I am not casting any judgements. As I said: I would like to read the text for myself.

God bless you.

Also:

And (remember) when the angels said: “O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the Alameen (mankind and jinns) (of her lifetime).”
( سورة آل عمران , Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #42)

And because of their saying (in boast), “We killed Messiah Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah,” - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not (i.e. Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ):
( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #157)

And (remember) she who guarded her chastity (Virgin Maryam (Mary)), We breathed into (the sleeves of) her (shirt or garment) (through Our Rooh Jibrael (Gabriel)), and We made her and her son (Iesa (Jesus)) a sign for Al-Alamin (the mankind and jinns).
( سورة الأنبياء , Al-Anbiya, Chapter #21, Verse #91)

And Maryam (Mary), the daughter of Imran who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (the sleeve of her shirt or her garment) through Our Rooh (i.e. Jibrael (Gabriel)), and she testified to the truth of the Words of her Lord (i.e. believed in the Words of Allah: “Be!” and he was; that is Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary); as a Messenger of Allah), and (also believed in) His Scriptures, and she was of the Qaniteen (i.e. obedient to Allah).
( سورة التحريم , At-Tahrim, Chapter #66, Verse #12)

How about another analogy?

Rat poison is 99% good food. It’s the 1% that kills the rat. Satan can’t decieve by telling all lies all the time. He mixes tuth and lies, quotes scripture out of context or incomplete. And thus…The Quran may contain truth, but it can not be God’s word.

Hi

There is a whole Chapter on Mary in Quran, named Sura Maryam.

The translation of the verses provided above is also faulty. I intend to provide correct meaning of the above verses with the true context for benefit of the members here:

**The Holy Quran : Chapter 3: Al-`Imran **

[3:34] Allah chose Adam and Noah and the family of Abraham and the family of Imran above all peoples of the time.
[3:35] They were descendants of one another and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
[3:36] Remember when a woman of Imran said, ‘My Lord, I have vowed to Thee what is in my womb to be dedicated to Thy service. So do Thou accept it of me; verily Thou alone art All-Hearing, All-Knowing.’
[3:37] But when she was delivered of it, she said, ‘My Lord, I am delivered of a female,’ - and Allah knew best of what she was delivered and the male she desired to have was not like the female she was delivered of - 'and I have named her Mary, and I commit her and her offspring to Thy protection from Satan, the rejected.
[3:38] So her Lord accepted her with gracious acceptance and caused her to grow an excellent growth and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah visited her in the chamber, he found with her provisions. He said, ‘O Mary whence hast thou this?’ She replied, ‘It is from Allah.’ Surely, Allah gives to whomsoever He pleases without measure.
[3:39] Then and there did Zachariah pray to his Lord, saying, ‘My Lord, grant me from Thyself pure offspring; surely, thou art the Hearer of prayer.’
[3:40] And the angels called to him as he stood praying in the chamber, 'Allah gives thee glad tidings of Yahya, who shall testify to the truth of a word from Allah - noble and chaste and a Prophet, from among the righteous.

[3:41] He said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a son, when old age has overtaken me already, and my wife is barren?’ He answered, ‘Such is the way of Allah; He does what He pleases,’
[3:42] He said, ‘My Lord, give me a commandment.’ He replied, ‘The commandment for thee is that thou shalt not speak to men for three days except by signs. And remember thy Lord much and glorify Him in the evening and in the early morning.’
[3:43] And remember when the angels said, ‘O Mary, Allah has chosen thee and purified thee and chosen thee above all women of the time.’
[3:44] ‘O Mary, be obedient to thy Lord and prostrate thyself and worship the one God with those who worship Him.’
[3:45] This is of the tidings of things unseen which We reveal to thee. And thou wast not with them when they cast their arrows, as to which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou with them when they disputed with one another.
[3:46] When the angels said, 'O Mary, Allah gives thee glad tidings of a son through a Word from Him; his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God;
[3:47] 'And he shall speak to the people in the cradle, and when of middle age, and he shall be of the righteous.
[3:48] She said, 'My Lord, how shall I have a son, when no man has touched me? He said, ‘Such is the way of Allah. He creates what He pleases. When He decrees a thing, He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is;’

[3:50] And will send him as a Messenger to the Children of Israel with the Message, 'I come to you with a Sign from your Lord, which is, that I will fashion out for you a creation out of clay after the manner of a bird; then I will breath into it a new spirit and it will become a soaring being by the command of Allah; and I will heal the night-blind and the leprous, and I will quicken the dead, by the command of Allah; and I will announce to you what you will eat and what you will store up in your houses. Hi

What are you afraid of?

If you are not a blind faith, it won’t harm you.

Thanks
Hi Paarsurrey,
In this case, the use of the word afraid does not mean scary.
In this case, the meaning is basically saying, im sorry, but i prefer the NT.
Some words in english can have up to 2 or 3 meanings.
God bless
