This is the explanation from Answering Islam, a website which is venomously hated by Muslims. But it seems to provide credible evidence that Mohammed did actually pronounce these words.

Yes. For me, a Christian, it is further reason why the Quran is a book of error and contradiction.

For you, I would think it an opportunity to prove that the Quran is what you claim it is.

Seriously, though, you seem an intelligent man. And you say you prefer the logic of the atheist. Well, it was when I was an atheist that I rejected Islam. Not after I converted or reverted to Christianity. There is so much in Islam which confirms the skepticism of a skeptical mind. How did someone like you fall for it?

No it doesn’t, it just lies. It says they’re referenced in Hadith and the Qur’an when that’s completely false. It also says it’s referenced in Ibn Ishaq’s biography of the Prophet (pbuh), which is total nonsense seeing as his work has been lost for over a thousand years, and the closest thing to it (Ibn Hisham’s biography) contains no such story.

Apparently, you discount the four biographers. Yet they have a isnadic line, don’t they?

Apparently a fellow named A. Guillame found a copy and translated it:

FROM IBN ISHAQ’S “SIRAT RASULALLAH”, translated as, “THE LIFE OF MUHAMMAD” by A. Guillaume, page 165 - 167.

Sounds as though it was lost but now its found.
