We just have to be faithful in giving witness to the Gospel.
Because when a woman is in the hospital, it’s good for her to get a sponge bath from a man in women’s clothing. She will benefit from the diversity! (Dignity is so bigoted.)This is because people will be coming to the table with more varied experiences and the company will, overall, have the opportunity to be more well-rounded in its output. It’s honestly the same with other institutions that pursue diversity - universities, hospitals, churches, etc. as you alluded to.
Oh my goodness, I couldn’t disagree more! Catholicism takes on different faces throughout the world, and frankly gets a little stale in the U.S. Far from being "harmful, the multicultural infusion into the American Church has breathed new life into it!If you have a number or diocesan priests, diversity doesn’t matter as long as they are not heterodox on theology or canon law. Diversity in those areas would be harmful.
This thread started with an article complaining about how the Human Rights Campaign is fighting against discrimination in society. It took a turn toward the sinfulness of gay people having sex. I did, however, quote the Catechism above, which unequivocally commands us to love our LGBTQ brethren and sisters and fight any discrimination against them. The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains our Holy Mother Church’s position on homosexuality beautifully:
Ahh, rainbow theology! Rainbow canon law! Sort of like the Protestant reformation. Loads of diversity. If you have a number or diocesan priests, diversity doesn’t matter as long as they are not heterodox on theology or canon law. Diversity in those areas would be harmful.
Regardless of the rest of the discussion here, I’m not sure I understand this one. Wouldn’t the person giving a sponge bath be a nurse? What difference would his or her clothing make?Because when a woman is in the hospital, it’s good for her to get a sponge bath from a man in women’s clothing. She will benefit from the diversity! (Dignity is so bigoted.)
Tell that to the builders in Babel.Yes, diversity is a good thing
But, if you’re in the marketing department, maybe for a clothing retailer, you might want to know what trends are out there, what people are buying, and it might help you to have (name removed by moderator)ut from representatives of different segments of society. If you have a workforce of people assembling smartphones, it doesn’t matter how diverse they are, just so they know how to do this particular assembly the same way.
If you have a diverse number of barista’s making coffee, the important thing is that they all make the coffee in the same exact manner.
f you have a diversity among students in any particular discipline, diversity doesn’t male any difference as long as they can master the same subject matter.
If you have a number or diocesan priests, diversity doesn’t matter as long as they are not heterodox on theology or canon law. Diversity in those areas would be harmful.
They don’t hire myriad representatives of all the various marketing demographics. They pay firms to put together focus groups for that. Diversity in hiring is a cost savings measure, not a marketing focus group. But, if you’re in the marketing department, maybe for a clothing retailer, you might want to know what trends are out there, what people are buying, and it might help you to have (name removed by moderator)ut from representatives of different segments of society.
Except that I highly doubt the marketing department wants to “know what’s out there”, in terms of trends. That would be so last century. But, if you’re in the marketing department, maybe for a clothing retailer, you might want to know what trends are out there, what people are buying, and it might help you to have (name removed by moderator)ut from representatives of different segments of society.
Some folks seem to be elevating Diversity to the eighth Cardinal virtue. Which it isn’t.Diversity was taught in support of the false notionn - that the Beauty of the Church lies in her embracing a WIde Spectrum of differing - even contradictory notions?
Of course. I’m speaking of when ‘diversity’ become inordinately applied within theology…Some Diversity is healthy.
Exactly.
- The Church does not ordain women,
- does not accept those with fixed homosexual orientation as candidates for the priesthood,
- opposes gender identity theory, promotes traditional marriage and opposes same sex marriage.
- It’s priests do not officiate same sex marriage.
- It does not encourage children to transition to the opposite sex.
- It opposes contraception and IVF.
