Hello Everyone,🙂

Last night my family and I watched the new abc show The Real O ’ Neal’s. The previews made it seem like it was an about a Catholic family with a gay son and their family had a whole lot of issues ( which after watching the show I had a different opinion). Per Wikipedia here is a summary about the show:
The series chronicles the lives of a close-knit Chicago family with Catholic roots, whose personal secrets reveal their real lives and a reality check after they all reveal intimate secrets to each other.
My dad doesn’t like us to watch shows with gay storylines because he believes that supporting that behavior/culture in the media so he did not see this yet. I watched the pilot and second show with my mom. I had mixed views about the show but my mom thought that it was kind of a good thing it showed that this perfect Catholic family wasn’t so perfect. For example the parents are getting a divorce, one son has an eating disorder and the daughter doesn’t believe in God despite being raised in the faith and attending Catholic school.

While there are some definite Catholic humor going ( which I admit at times was pretty funny) I wonder, Have you seen the show? Will you keep watching it? How do you think this helps Catholics or others view our Catholic faith?

if Dan Savage had anything to do with this show it can’t be worth watching!

This show was created by Dan Savage, who is famous for being a vehemently anti-Catholic pro-gay-advocate. He was raised Catholic and has an enormous grudge against the Church, which he is quite public about.

He’s said publicly that he wished all conservatives would “just f***ng die.” He’s spoken openly about how he and his “husband” aren’t monogamous and have random partners together, and that cheating is good for marriage.

This show isn’t meant to make Catholics look good at all.

Bishop Sheen said there are millions who hate what they think the catholic church is, but hardly a handful who really hate the church. Well, Dan Savage is one of the handful.

I can’t remember who wrote it and it was actually a secular critic who said straight up that was anti Catholic and that they didn’t like it. I’m pretty sure the person that wrote that was not Catholic but I’m very happy with the fact that they could come out with an opinion like that. Savage is quite possibly one of the most popular anti Catholic people on God’s green earth

Just from the advertisements which they were showing before the show’s premier I decided that this would be garbage. Bill Donohue’s review confirmed it.

They wouldn’t dare have a show mocking any other religious group. Why is it that Catholics have to put up with this?

Nope. From the previews, it seems like a gay advocacy group had a lot of (name removed by moderator)ut into this show. The oldest son is gay in this show, and you can only imagine the propaganda that will be presented in this show. It always seems to me NBC is the worst when it comes to shows like this, and ABC right behind it. In this case… this show is airing on ABC.

Another show I was looking into was “Crowded” on NBC… Looked funny until of course the daughter is shown kissing another girl and telling her dad " I’m not gay", and is totally okay with this.

So as for me… moving on, nothing to see here. Just another show promoting the subliminal gay agenda again.

I have not watched the show, but I did see commercials for it. These types of shows never last more than a few episodes. I think the writers look forward to the Catholic uproar. I don’t think it happened with this show, mostly because no one was interested.

This is so funny. Just find it crazy that people seem to think there is a “gay agenda”.
