I never knew this before either! I just kneel with my eyes closed and picture Jesus saying the words. I don’t want to hijack this thread by asking this (please forgive me), but is it a sin for not having done this in the past? I will most defenitely do this from now on as it is beautiful and seems right.
Isn’t it a beautiful thing to do? When I look up at the elevated Host or Chalice, I SEE The Real Presence of our Lord. I see many people with their heads bowed in prayer, but I don’t want to miss this chance to see Him in the Eucharist!
(And, yes, to allay the fears of any who thought otherwise, this is said to oneself or at best very quietly.)
I Can Only Imagine
"I can only imagine what it will be like, when I walk by Your side…
I can only imagine, what my eyes will see, when Your Face is before me!
I can only imagine. I can only imagine.
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing ‘Hallelujah!’? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!
I can only imagine, when that day comes, when I find myself standing in the Son!
I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine! I can only imagine! …
…I can only imagine, when all I do is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine."
