The four ends for which the Holy Sacrifice of the Altar (Divine Liturgy, Holy Mass, Qorbono) is offered are:

• Adoration
• Propitiation
• Thanksgiving
• Supplication

The Divine Office and the Holy Sacrifice are the public worship due to God. The Divine Office is not secondary but complementary to the Mass/Liturgy/Qorbono.

Yes, I think there’s a danger of seeing the Mass as a kind of mystery play.

The Orthodox see similar connections in their liturgy; for example the priest cuts the host with a blade which represents the lancing of Jesus’ side.

I find very interesting the connection between the Mass here on Earth and the heavenly Mass as seen in the Revelation of the Apocalypse.
