I am new to the Forum and am not as educated as most of the folks that I’ve read commits from on these forums. I am a cradle Catholic however, and just a child when Vatican II was introduced. I belonged to a Parish that said mass in Latin and in English. There were no alter girls (which still makes sense to me as they can not be ordained), but I would have to say that my Mother appreciated the change because she did not like the Latin so much, although she feels very strongly the mass has changed for the worse. Novus Ordo unfortunately for me has been a less reverent mass. I miss the tradition and disciplined beauty of the EF. The interpretation of NO has been so inconsistant throughout the Parishes. I go to a church that reminds me of a huge television Protestant church. There are a lot of converts there as well as older folks. I will say though that they are movers and shakers; Catholic school and all the different youth groups as well as CCD. But again, nothing traditionally Catholic that I have ever seen. It’s funny to. Great Falls, MT has 6 different Parishes including the Diocese for a town of 55,000 people. Very Catholic indeed. We do have an SSPX church here though and it is beautiful inside. Reminds me of a Greek Orthodox or Cathedral type church. Women wearing skirts and covered, men dressed up in tie, white shirts and slacks with Mass being said in Latin. I hope they come into communion with the Papal though eventually. They kneel for long periods. Something I remember from when a child (I’m almost 50). They use the 1962 or 1958 Misselettes(spelling?). I only went once, and there Mass was packed. No Liturgical ministers (not correct anyhow) or any such participation, and definitely no alter girls. Took me back all those years ago. Just wonderful. Thank you for being here and God Bless.
