You said that killing children was not something that you could defend because ‘one can understand it in the context of the time and culture’.Seriously, though: if we were to assert, simultaneously, that murder is wrong and murders actually happen, that wouldn’t be a concession that “relative morality” is in play. Rather, it would be an assertion that absolute morality is what’s being proposed, but that humans don’t always meet the standards of that morality.
If I had said that I would have been howled down as a supporter of relative morality. You seem to be able to say it with a straight face and no qualms.
