I had to get some information from them in order to fill out the form.

Just wait until you see how the Reformed Church sees other Denominations, even the Lutheran Church.

Ugh; don’t get me started. The Calvinist doctrine of predestination makes God look like a tyrant.

Your parents baptized you Catholic and are mad that you are considered Catholic?

I was born in a Catholic hospital. The nuns asked my Mom to baptize me and she let them. I was baptized by a Lutheran pastor after they took me home. They’re mad because the Church considers me Catholic because of the Catholic baptism. They insist that I was Lutheran until my Confirmation.

Why would that matter? It’s not like you would have been re-baptized if you had only had the Lutheran baptism.

Honestly, it sounds like there are other feelings going on that they are projecting onto the Church.

I think it’s basically anti Catholicism at work. My parents grew up in rural Iowa in the 60s.

Tonight, I filled out my annulment petition form. My parents, practicing Lutherans; were pissed that the Church considered me Catholic because of my Baptism. Both my parents and sets of grandparents are/were practicing Lutherans. My mother told me that my grandparents would roll in their graves, knowing that I’m Catholic; and my father told me that he didn’t raise his kids to be Catholic. My father also told me not to bring any priests to their house.
It makes me mad what Luther did to the Church. I’m not mad at my parents; I’m mad at Luther and his Reformation putting a rift between me and my parents. Aside from one of my great uncles; I’m the only Catholic in a Lutheran family. Do any others have stories like this?
I’m confused, if everybody is Lutheran in your family, Who baptized you Catholic?
