My previous thread is almost two years old, so I thought an updated one would be better. My mother turned 87 this July; the previous thread was Mom is 85 with fluctuating blood sugar. I pray for her conversion to the Church too.

My mom’s (type 2) diabetes and her blood pressure have been stabilized with medication and daily injections.

I was talking to her on the phone this afternoon.

We didn’t discuss our differing religious beliefs, although I know she is still disappointed and sound like she thinks I’ve been ‘brainwashed’. (My words, I don’t recall whether or not she used ‘brainwashed’.) My greatest wish for her is that she will accept Christ’s Church and teachings, and be able to eat His Body and drink His Blood before her death.

Health-wise there’s been a new development:
She had a fall (while sitting in her walker, she doesn’t know how) and hit the back of her head on the ground outside of her nursing home. That was about a couple of weeks ago.
Sometime after that (we do not even know if it is connected) she started having hallucinations – she’s seeing people come into her room as she’s trying to read or watch TV. She gets very annoyed by this. She expressed it this way: “I even get mad at them and chase them out sometimes.” She is well aware that there is no one there and that it is all in her head. These hallucinations are quite vivid, as in being able to see the clothes and different colours, etc. It sounds scary to me. Late last week she went for a CAT scan … she won’t hear from the doc for a week or two.

If you have the time please pray for her and her immortal soul. She has great faith in Jesus, but cannot accept any Church teachings about Mother Mary, for instance.

Thank you and God be with you,
Reg.

For my mother (Esther), her health and her conversion to Your Church I pray:
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost.
Amen.

**Our Father, Who art in Heaven, **
**hallowed be Thy Name. **
**Thy Kingdom come. **
Thy Will be done,
on earth, as it is in Heaven.

**Give us this day our daily bread **
**and forgive us our trespasses **
**as we forgive those who trespass against us; **
**and lead us not into temptation, **
**but deliver us from evil. **
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

**Blessed art thou amongst women, **
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

**Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen. **

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost.
Amen.

She is in my prayers.

I have learned to never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit to touch a soul nor do I underestimate the power of the soul to respond at the last moment.

I think I know what you and your mom are going through, my father, he is 86 years old, fell down the stairs in april and as a result suffered a blood cloth in the cerebellum (located in the back of the head) he too had allucinations for about 6 weeks after the fall.
Eventually they subsized.
I will pray for your mom.

God bless you Reginator and your sweet mother.

Keep in mind that God brings many people to His Heavenly Home - who never had the ability to accept teachings of the Church during their earthly life.

Keep praying for your mom. You never know when she may decide to call the Catholic Church her home. Know that she is a good woman who loves our Lord - she is not rejecting Him, she just is not able to accept some of the teachings of the Church because of her limited understanding.

God loves her very much and understands her inability to understand the teachings of the Church.

May God help her with her health problems and provide peace in both of your hearts. May she feel the Love of God and Mother Mary.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of the womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Almighty Father, please help The Reginator’s mom. I ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

I’m praying that God will heal both her body and touch her soul. I’m sure she is good woman (afterall, she reared you!), despite not being Catholic. You set her a good example and keep the faith. You may never know if she converts, it may be as she passes.

She will be in my prayers.

Your Mom and you are in my prayers. :gopray2: Knowing that you are doing, and have done, what you have to do at each moment with the knowledge and ability you had at that moment is “something” that brings great peace. I  to you. Our Most Loving Father is also her Father. :grouphug: Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for your Mom. In turn, you also will feel His Mercy. We must trust in His Mercy and His Love for each one of us – and your Mom already loves Him!! Wow! 👍 Jesus is so understanding – and has a great sense of humor too! Enjoy the person of your Mom each moment that you can – it is difficult sometimes.

Take good care of yourself :coffee: (I like coffee) and ask for help when you need/want it. Caregiving can be stressful. I hope this uplifts you a bit. 👍

Stay blessed and well.

Praying for her conversion to the Catholic Faith and her overall well being and health and would include your intentions later at daily Mass.

You might also want to give or assign her the Green Scapular. I’m using the scapulars and praying for the conversion of family members, and even for people bothering us.

For the Reginator’s mother…

For Reg’s mother’s continued good health, for her eternal salvation :

Prayer for a Loved One’s Conversion to Catholicism (Colossians 1:9-14)

O Father, in the name of Your Son Jesus, and in the power and authority of the Holy Spirit,
with the knowledge of Your will,
I ask that You fill Reg’s Mother with the knowledge of Your will through ALL spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Enlighten this precious child of Yours, dear Lord!
Teach this dear one to live in a manner that is worthy of You,
so as to be fully pleasing to You,
full of good works bearing good fruits and ever growing in knowledge of You.
Strengthen this lost lamb, dear Lord,
with every power of Your Holy Spirit,
in accordance with Your might, for all endurance and patience,
with joy, giving thanks to You O Father!
Make Your child fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in the Light.
Deliver this beloved one from the power of darkness
into the kingdom of Your Beloved Son, Jesus,
and transfer null into the kingdom of Your Beloved Son, Jesus,
in whom is redemption and the forgiveness of sins.

Amen!

Novena To Saint Monica For Conversions

Exemplary Mother of the Great Augustine,
You perserveringly pursued your wayward son
Not with wild threats
But with prayerful cries to heaven.

Intercede for all mothers in our day
So that they may learn
To draw their children to God.

Teach them how to remain
Close to their children,
Even the prodigal sons and daughters
Who have sadly gone astray.

Dear St Monica, troubled wife and mother,
Many sorrows pierced your heart
During your lifetime.
Yet you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence and profound faith,
You prayed daily for the conversion
Of your beloved husband, Patricius
And your beloved son, Augustine.

Grant me that same fortitude,
Patience and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
That God may favorably hear my plea

For

(The Conversion of Reg’s Mother)

And grant me the grace
To accept his will in all things,
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God forever and ever. Amen.

I’ve an extra prayer request for my mom this week.
On Friday, October 11th, my brother Ed would have been turning 63, except that he committed suicide early in March of 2010.
Ed was my parents’ first born child. This has hit my mother hard, and she will be remembering him a lot at this time of year. Canadian Thanksgiving (this year on Monday October 14) was always connected with my big brother’s birthday.

Thanks and God bless,
Reg.
