Then you’re confused, but if it’s an innocent type of confusion based on simple ignorance, then you’re also NOT rejecting faith or belief in God. In fact, if you’re goal is heaven, they you believe in God.

I would generally agree, though with the typical Lutheran caveats.

There are other issues, even within the doctrine of justification, but for me it is more the issue of papal supremacy

Hi Jon, At every stage of salvation history we see father figures here on earth. Some were good and some not so much (Solomon). But as Hahn says, God is able to write straight with crooked lines. As you know, Jesus IS the church and we are the body. But the foundation for that Church on earth was the Apostles. The Father sent the Son who gave authority to the twelve. But only Peter was given the Keys (Matt 16: 17-19). To better understand the significance of what Jesus said to Peter I refer you to Isaiah 22: 19-23 and this link:

Here we see not only the binding/loosening but the Keys and succession.
