This account from ancient times of their martyrdom is a great treasure of Christian literature, an unpretentious and touching first-hand account written up to her death by one of these two women, Perpetua, then 22 years old. They were executed by the Romans in 203 for being Christians. Making a great impression on Catholics, this first-hand account of the martyrdom of these two woman, Perpetua and Felicity, led to their being named during the eucharistic prayer of the mass.
In the past their feast day was March 6; now it is March 7.
