A note in the bulletin this Sunday:

"The Remnant Newspaper is a national, Traditional-Catholic bi-weekly of excellent quality. Fr. Last Name wishes for all parish households to subscribe to The Remnant for their instruction and edification and to support this worthy print apostolate

The Remnant’s editor has recently published an appeal for subscriptions, to help ensure the continued voice of the Traditional Catholic Press"

And then it lists the website and phone number.

I checked the website and Wiki, and Wiki reports though it is not affiliated with one particular group, it is sympthatic to the SSPX, though, it now defends Pope BXVI.

Does anybody who supports the OF (though prefers the EF) subscribe to this? I want to help them, especially if they support the Church, but, I don’t want my money going to a fringe group (though, I understand, I can subscribe just to see another zeitgeist…) Also, if the parish priest is asking on behalf of these people for help, I kinda want to do what he advocates…

BUT, what I am asking is does anybody here subscribe to this paper or donate to it and do you fully condone Vatican II?

Thank you.

Oh yeah, and, if anybody wants to subscribe, if one searches “Remnant Newspaper”, one gets the site.

Yes, orthodox OF people do read it. I used to read it regularly along with The Wanderer back in the 90s. I finally had to put them both down as I was getting drunk off of all the scandals they loved to report in full detail. I don’t know what those papers are like now, but they appealed to a group I like to call, “The Church of the Perpetually Scandalized.” I realized I was actually getting pleasure out of reading of all the abuses and scandals and it was really like a cancer in my spiritual life and amongst my “church friends.”

Hopefully they’ve moved beyond that stuff.

I have read a couple. Honestly, the title of the paper put me off. The remnant of what exactly? I am familiar with the Old Testament usage, and if that is what they are implying, I view their title as a dangerously schismatic term.

Well, if the statistics about how many Catholics believe in the Real Presence is true, then the title is fitting. Sadly, Catholics who believe and profess all that the Church teaches are a small minority in the world right now.

How do you view your Pastor ?

Do these current issue articles interest you ?

Answer those questions and decide 🙂

Catholic is a quarterly publication by the Transalpline Redemptorists who are also in need of new subscribers and support. They lost some subscribers when they reconciled with Rome, and I’d highly recommend supporting them. Their publication contains wonderful articles and accounts of Saints and doings throughout Church history. Info, and news, you just can’t find so easily on the internet.

The topics The Remnant covers, and the articles by their writers can be found easily on the net. But still, I must say, an article I read there, was the best “fight for Tradition” article I’ve ever read by a layman. Made a whole lot of sense to me.

I’m a Remnant fan. Love the articles. I used to like Catholic Culture but their constant “begging” for money really put me off. Then I began to disagree with some of the articles and discontinued my subscription. So I’ll stick with the Remnant.

There was a time when I read both Matt’s paper and the National Catholic Reporter, but determined that neither paper gave a positive image of the reality of the true Catholic Church, but rather portrayed a Church as they, not Our lord, would personally have it. For the money one would do much better with The Catholic Register or Our Sunday Visitor.

I liked the sample, so I subscribed. I’m traditional and ordinary form-friendly.
