The resurgence of headcovering at Mass - why?

I grew up without the requirement but started to veil periodically as a grown woman by choice. I like the fact there are many choices to cover with that are appropriate like mantillas, scarves, veils and various types of hats. I think the more that do it, others may notice & catch on also.

As a young girl I always wore a chapel veil . Then I got away from wearing anything. Since my pilgrimage to the Holy Land ( 1 and 1/2 yrs ago ) when I spent much time in prayer and adoration, I felt a calling to cover my head when I’m in the "real presence " . Since then, I have been unable to NOT cover . I do, however, feel it is a personal preference; and do not feel I must impose my feelings about covering on others. When I returned to the US from the HL , I initially felt a bit awkward about it, but realized I was covering out of respect for Him and that solved the uneasiness. And, I have noticed a few more ladies covering also. Sometimes I wear a mantilla, or a small chapel veil, and other times a hat or scarf/shawl.

Does not nature itself teach you that for a man to wear long hair is degrading to him, But if a woman has long hair, it is her pride? For her hair is given to her for a covering. ***If any one is disposed to be contentious, we recognize no other practice, nor do the churches of God. ***

One of the accheived GOALS of the Post Vatican II period was to as much as possible; eliminate personal piety. In an effeort to become more like our Protestant Brethern in our worship practices, many felt is was necessary to o so.

Never commanded outright, neverheless other actions made it evident and a reality. Removal of Communion ralis, of Tabernacles to outpost locations, to removal of many sacramentals: statues, crosses, crucifixes and the like; and the new church construction focused on us as comminity; as “THEE CHURCH” and therefore thee necessary focus of th Mass. With an emphaisis not so different than protestants. The head covering; a sign of REASPECT for God, simply went away.

Slowly as Faith builds, and KNOWING what we believe and WHY, especially regards the Most Holy Euchsarist; personal piety is making a come-back:thumbsup: This practice is NOT demanded but was also practices by female Religious for many centuries.

A womens hair is an adornment MEANT to attract attention. That is the FACT, Paul understood so well. As we slowly and painfully strive to regain our God-centered focus in our SundAY WORSHIP, this is just of of is fruits.

I also believe part of the resurgence is a part of a small, but culminating, trend of people wanting the Church to go back to more traditional roots.
