Okay, so from what I understand, the Catholic belief is that Jesus resurrected in a bodily form and then in that same body ascended to heaven. What I’m confused about is…is He still in the same bodily form currently in heaven? Someone please clarify.

Also, our hope is that same kind of resurrection? So when faithful Catholics die, most go to Purgatory? Then Heaven? In a spiritual form? What about the bodily resurrection? When does that happen?

997 What is “rising”? In death, the separation of the soul from the body, the human body decays and the soul goes to meet God, while awaiting its reunion with its glorified body. God, in his almighty power, will definitively grant incorruptible life to our bodies by reuniting them with our souls, through the power of Jesus’ Resurrection.

Looks like I found my answer…

Doubtfire,
All christians believe the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jn.6:40, Jn.20, Mt.28 Read all about it. 🙂

God bless,

Note to other participants: DOUBTFIRE is quoting #997 from the CCC - from Article 11, dealing with the Creed’s statement, “I believe in the Resurrection of the Body.” This whole section (#988 - #1004, and with close relation to continuing articles through #1019) clearly establish Catholic understanding of this question and do, indeed, answer the OP’s question, as the OP acknowledges.
