Simple question - will our present bodies be raised (i.e. our corpses) or will we be given new bodies in the exact form as they were in our lives now?

We really don’t know. The raising of corpses seems problematic, as such, because many bodies are now dust (or fish food… or burnt… or, or, or…). So, we can’t really box God into a corner and say “He’s gonna raise up the old flesh”.

What about “new bodies in the exact form”? Well… at what age would that “exact form” be? 14-years-old? 21? 35? What about folks who never lived that long?

The best, I think, that we can say is “we will receive glorified bodies, which will never die or be corrupted.”

If it is the same body but glorified, what is the difference besides being glorified? My point is if you can’t tell the difference what difference does the “mode” of resurrection matter?.

I think that we will be able to tell the difference. After all, if I come back as a 20-something, that’ll be a significant different that will be readily apparent! Even if I come back at my current age, I’ll be able to tell the difference: perfect senses (20/20 vision, etc, etc), no aches and pains, etc, etc.

So, I think it’s reasonable to say that we will be able to “tell the difference”!

I see what you are saying and I agree, I don’t think you will be an old man. Actually what I think is that you will be able to determine in some way your age and what you look like.

The reason I say this is because Jesus was walking around and people didn’t recognize him. Is it possible we could change our appearance from young to old at the snap of a finger? maybe…I also think that being able to bi-locate will be a pretty interesting and odd…but cool affair. Thats just to name a few haha.

I can not say for sure, but I think it will be a body continuous with our current one, but not the same material exactly. What I mean by this: our bodies now have cells that die and replace at all times, eventually after so many years, your body is made up of entirely new matter, but no one would say that it is not your body still. Therefore I think the resurrection will be the same, different matter, but still your body.

Glorified for the Elect, horrible for the reprobate. Lord have mercy on us.

Also it will have different abilities and properties than now, something entirely different and wonderful.
