They were not given a ‘resurrected’ body. Their own bodies were restored. Maybe we could call it a ‘restored’ body. In the Church there is a phenomenon called ‘incorruptibles’. These are the bodies of saints that, through no outward physical intervention, have resisted the corruption of death. Some are pristine; others are not.

The reason I think the events were included in the gospels was to show us that Christ was God and that He had the power of life and death.

We are saying essentialy the same thing. I will cede to you that the bodies were restored, but not reconstituted. Reconstitution is the taking of bits and parts to make a simile of the whole. You can reconstitute chicken, pork, veal, etc. To reconstitute a human you will end up with the likes of Frankenstein’s monster, or worse.
