You have got to be kidding, right?

There is no way I entrust the protection of my family to anyone, but us.

The police are right at the end of the line.

We live in a violent world, and what is needed is LOVE, not more guns. God will protect us!

Their best is not good enough when the situation is over. To suggest turning the other cheek when dealing with those intent on doing you harm is naive.
Again, trust in God and turn the other cheek! To turn the other cheek is from the words of Christ. What did he mean by it?

“Those who live by the sword, die by the sword.”

While I whole heartedly agree with the sentiment, I’m not prepared to take the chance, when it comes to my family.

I could now ask the glaringly obvious question as to where was God’s protection when it came to - name any incident you like - but I already know the responses.

I think God would expect us to take all reasonable precautions to protect and defend ourselves and not just rely on providence.

Then why pass any laws against guns at all if God is going to ultimately protect us?

if your kid had a gun and shot the guys running away? or they took his gun and used it. would it not be better to just run away. those guys don’t want you just want stuff to take.
stuff! so what! big deal! stuff!
You can’t tell that. Some criminals do intend to do physical harm, or rape and possibly murder any females they come across. You simply can’t tell what someone on drugs is going to do. And some people NOT on drugs are simply out to hurt other people AND take their stuff.

It has been shown in Public Health that a household gun is more likely to be use against a family member than it is someone threatening your life (includes suicides).

Look at how many innocent men women and children that are murdered by weapons, to realize how ridiculous that is.

Those who are murdered are in God’s hands and no more harm or terror can touch them.

You find people in your house who shouldn’t be there and you are going to believe them when they tell you, “We only want your stuff?”

Yes, my kid was very fortunate but my friend’s daughter wasn’t when a man broke into her apartment a proceeded to rape her for three hours and then attempted to kill her.

Do you live in Never-Never Land?

Right. The police are only good for sorting out the bodies. They weren’t able to stop any of these, even Aurora with a 3 minute response time. When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

Again: “Those who live by the sword, die by the sword.”
Please don’t pervert Scripture to suit your agenda. The Church teaches that there is a natural right to employ force (even lethal force if absolutely necessary) for self-defense. You may elect not to employ that right but that has no bearing on its existence.

I see. You can accuse me of perverting scriptures but then you slander me with the passages you choose to share!

David was long before Christ, so how can Christ be responsible for Goliath’s death? We all know that Christ is LOVE, not hate.
Huh??

Christ is the 2nd Person of the Holy Trinity, He is Eternal.

He has existed for a lot longer than David.

Christ is the same God that inspired David to kill Goliath, there is no other God.

Kind of, yes. And I’m about to become like a granddad.
Then you should know that the CHURCH says you have a moral obligation to defend those under your natural protection – your wife and children – even unto your own death. It is grievous sin not to do so, and I would say that a father who would not try to protect his family unto his death does not truly know love and is a fails in the calling of manhood, fatherhood, husband.
