In the Los Angeles Archdiocese the two ceremonies are held on different days. I would guess that might be true in other large dioceses/archdioceses as well. (I just looked at New York – they use different days as well.)

The Archdiocese of Baltimore does it on the same day, and same cerimony (they call up all of the ones that are unbaptised first, then they do the ones that have been baptised).
 
My DH is going to be in the field (training with the Army and they won’t release him) this Sunday when he is supposed to go to the “RoE”. The person teaching RCIA asked me to go in his stead.

What do you all think? I said sure, but I’d never heard of that before.

Is he a Catechumen? I’ve heard of proxies for the sponsors, but I’ve never heard of sending a substitute for the Catechumen. :confused:
 
Yes, he’s the Catechumen. I’m not sure what they want me to do, I don’t think they mean for me to “proxy” maybe just so his family is there to represent him in some way. 🤷

That’s just bizarre. What do they expect you to do when his name is called? You can’t possibly go forward; you are already a Catholic. :confused:
