Imagine yourself walking down a road towards Jesus, and Mary is walking beside you. When you reach Him, who will He listen to first, you, or His mother?
One priest who had a near death experience remembers his judgement. He was a very bad priest, and incidentally he was going to be sent to hell. He heard Mary step in and say, why donāt we send him back, and see if he improves? (this came back to the priest as he was reading the gospel about the tree that doesnāt bear fruit.) He hadnāt even had any sort of devotion to Mary, and still she interceded for him! Jesus said back to her, he has been a priest for x amount of years, and has done it for himself, and not for me. (This was on EWTN, and Mother Angelicaās comment was that Our Lord must have very high expectations for His priests!)
You can believe that story or not, but what you must believe is what impact Mary had on Christās actions on earth. When she found Him teaching in the temple as a child, she basically said to not do this. He listenedā¦ for decades!! until they were at the wedding feast, and she gave Him her motherly permission to resume His work. It is astonishing to think about, that God Himself came to this earth and so humbled Himself as to put Himself under the authority of His own creation, His earthly mother. It is such a beautiful thing to think of!!
And although Mary has done such wonderful things for me in the past, I recently ālost touchā with her, you could say. I said the Rosary and I pictured her seeing her son again after the Resurrectionā¦ it brought tears to my eyes, the love these two have for each other. And to think that God loves us just as much is also humbling (but He still trusts her/honors her more than us).
