men are useful for many things. changing the oil in my truck. parallel parking. taking out the garbage. programming the remote. crawling under the trailer to install phone and DSS cable. washing the car. powerwashing the driveway. blowing leaves and weeds away (I have never seen a woman operating a leaf blower). balancing the waterbed so I donā€™t sink toward the middle. we should not underestimate their contributions.

I think men are called to be Christ like. I also think women and men are called to be one flesh as the Bible says. To me that means having the same goals for the family and working at them together. Ofcourse there are generalities about what men or women are more suited for as far as roles go. Some fit those generalities better than others.

It hasnā€™t always been this way but at this point in our marriage we are a tight unit - for lack of better words. I work part time because even though my husband works long days and we live frugally we debt incuured from our ā€œyoungerā€ years that would swallow us up without my income. We were opposite shifts and both split the task of homeschooling our daughter equally. My husband helps me pick up the house. I tire easily due to medical problems and my husband gives me the extra help I need.

When my husband was laid off I worked nearly full time hours and he did the homeschooling and driving my daughter to her activities. And he did more of the house work.

We go to Mass together, read the Bible together and pray together with our daughter. Familes need to figure out what works best for their family. You canā€™t squeeze everyone into a mold of what a woman should be or a man should be. What a couple should should be is what works best for family unity.

You forgot big ugly bug killer. šŸ˜ƒ

Men wait for their wives. They begin their training at the altar as she slowly walks down the aisle in that strange pause-step walk. Then, later, he waits as she changes into her traveling clothes. He waits as she says her last minute goodbyes (itā€™s never him doing that)ā€¦

Men should work hard, bring home the bacon, put their dear wives on a pedestal, and have big muscles!
Men should be supportive of their wivesā€™ needs, work on communication, change diapers when needed, and get in touch with their feelings.
Men should listen to their wives, of course!!! (George W Bush does)
Men should emulate Christ in all things.
Men should be head of the household. They should be the sole providers for their families.
Men should be adaptable in their roles. Rigid roles are not realistic in the complex world in which we live.
Other ideas, please shareā€¦
Yes.

Men should protect the seed God gave them and culivate the garden they are to plant that seed in. Men do not plant their seed in the ground, it does not grow there.

Thanks, I need a laugh this morning.

It is the responsibility of men to create a stable environment for the nurturing of the soul, the family, the mind, and society in imitation of Christ.

IF youā€™re married, does your husband know that the way you think about him is in regard to what he can give you or do for you?

If youā€™re not married, no wonder. You have no respect for men.

I think you have a great attitude and Iā€™ll bet your husband appreciates it and you.

Yes my husband knows exactly what I think on all topics and all occassions, and he knows what he can do about it if he doesn;t like it. I have immense respect for men, and gratitude for them doing all those grungy jobs (which we are perfectly capable of doing for ourselves, but donā€™t like getting our hands dirty or breaking a nail). Yes, he also squashes bugs.

I think our favorite pollster WD is responding to the corresponding poll on the Role of Women. I further suggest that the posters of both these polls are encouraging us to consider that there is no one role assigned to all men or to all women. since I have commented at great length to the point of boredom on both those topics on numerous other threads, I will now go and take care of the laundry hub got dirty this weekend by performing a list of messy jobs around the house and garage.

ā€¦the Manā€™s job???

Love his family to heavenā€¦ Donā€™t dare show up at the pearly gates and have St Peter ask you where your wife and children are.
I canā€™t imagine a sader senarioā€¦

While your here? Love, respect, protect, share, worship, and above all serve the Gift God gave you in a ā€œwifeā€ā€¦ šŸ‘

Promise not to kill your childrenā€¦ šŸ˜ƒ

Love the choice for the poll: ā€œMen should emulate Christ in all thingsā€. What could be better than this???

Well, Iā€™m not a man, and I donā€™t have any around the house (at least, not human ones šŸ˜‰ ), but I think a man is on the right track if he tries to emulate Christ in all things.

I agree. All of the above. Although, my wife is the bug killer. (I have an AWEFUL phobia to bugsā€¦)
