Cool. so just say what the intention is at the beginning of the Rosary and then go about it with as a normal rosary. The only time I’ve heard of a significant change is on my local Catholic radio. They do a pro-life rosary at night. They have colored Rosaries and each bead represents something special. So I didn’t know if that was a special case or if that is what we can do for any intention.

I have heard of the pro-life rosary too. I hear it usually at about 1:30 pm.

Its on at 9ish around here, I believe. I really like it. I think its beautiful. I especially loved it when I didn’t really understand the point of the Hail Mary prayers because it seemed to give a purpose to them, since each different colored bead meant something different.

Another thing (maybe it is already being mentioned - if so, my appologies): every Hail Mary could be a good idea to treat it like you are giving Our Lady a beautiful yellow or red rose.

At the fastest, i pray one set of mysteries at 35 mins. At slowest with biblereadings, like 65-75 mins. The importance of praying it slowly and meditate over the mysteries has at least helped me a lot.

But this may change from persona to persona i suppose.

Does anyone know how the Rosary came to be?

I’ve heard multiple different stories. One is the the Blessed Mother gave it to St. Dominic and told him to spread it to others. Another is that monks came up with the beads to keep track of the Psalms, which they would recite every day, which eventually became Hail Marys over the years.

Basically, one story is that its from Mary, the other is that it is a tradition that man made over the years. Your thoughts?

I’ve found two guides that show how to pray the rosary, but they small differences. Could you guys and gals check them out and point me to the more accurate of the two? Here are the links:

Why, during the rosary, does one say to Mary “my hope, my sweetness, my life” (or something to that effect)?

Shouldn’t God and Jesus be our hope and life?

Yes, God and Jesus are our hope and life. Please don’t forget the Holy Spirit also. The Blessed Virgin Mary (and all the Saints) are expressions of the Power and Love of God through the ages also. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the greatest of all Saints, and therefore, the best fully human example for Christians.

I first wanted to say that as a new convert (from an evangelical background) I have struggled with a lot of what you have. Taking to praying the rosary is on thing that first brought me to my official desire to convert.

I’ve used the later link when I began praying the rosary. Repetition makes memorization easier, I almost have the whole thing down at this point except the mysteries. I started by printing out that sheet and keeping it with me.

As far as the differences I found on EWTNs website that the final three prayers are for the Holy Father and they are “optional” but I think its a good idea . As far as the Memorare goes, i don’t know and I hope someone else can answer that one.

I like to pray the Rosary during the day when it comes on the Catholic Radio.

Something they say just before is “please pray this Rosary for the Intentions of…”

I don’t quite understand this concept. I know I’m a bit vague, but I don’t quite understand.

The Rosary is a meditation on the mysteries. How does one pray the Rosary for someone?

I hope this makes sense.

Does it mean that the grace/blessings one receives from praying the Rosary are transfered to someone else?

A couple of news questions regarding the rosary.

1). Is it ok, and has anyone tried, praying a whole rosary while focusing on only one mystery, such as praying all five decades while meditating on the crucifixion?

2). I received a St. Benedict rosary with the St. Benedict medal as the “Our Father” beads. Someone exolained at one point that praying the rosary is praying with Mary. So, when one prays with a rosary like this, is it like you are praying with Mary as well as that particular saint, in this case St. Benedict?
