What do y’all know about the Rosicrucians? Their origins are interesting. Their teachings are a bit unusual, and this is coming from a guy who has studied many world religions and spiritual traditions. What is the Catholic response to them? I have known several people, long before I was Catholic, who claimed to be Catholic Rosicrucians, but I thought that was contradictory?

Considering how closely they appear to be intertwined with Freemasonry, your thought of contradiction would indeed be correct.

Yes, I think it must be like the few people I’ve met who claimed to be Catholic Freemasons. I almost became a Freemason when I was a pagan interfaith minister, but even then some things about them turned me off big time. I am a Knight of Columbus, now that I am Catholic, and I have MUCH more respect for that group. I keep getting the Rosicrucians advertised to me everywhere I go on the internet, and I think it’s because I study diverse topics I’m fascinated by ancient cultures and modern cultural anthropology as well, and somehow to the advertising algorithms that means I would like to be a Rosicrucian. LOL So, it had me thinking about it since I don’t think I had asked anyone about it since joining the church in 2015. I think the Rosicrucian order started out as vaguely Catholic, but I don’t know.
