I am reading a book on the eucharist and it makes repeated refrences of Jesus, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world, to the Sacrifical Lamb of Jewish Mosaic Law, say that just as the Old Testament Lamb must be eaten the New Testament Lamb (Jesus) must be eaten (In the Eucharist). I can’t help but, remeber that certain sacrifices were to be eaten by the priest alone (I think) and some where to be eaten by the sacrificers. I would like to look that about the Lambs offering, does anyone know where I can find it? Thanks and God bless.

Exodus 12, for one, which describes the institution of the Passover.

As Fidelis notes Exodus 12:43-49
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the regulations for the Passover. No foreigner may partake of it. 44 However, any slave who has been bought for money may partake of it, provided you have first circumcised him. 45 But no transient alien or hired servant may partake of it. 46 7 It must be eaten in one and the same house; you may not take any of its flesh outside the house. You shall not break any of its bones. 47 The whole community of Israel must keep this feast. 48 If any aliens living among you wish to celebrate the Passover of the LORD, all the males among them must first be circumcised, and then they may join in its observance just like the natives. But no man who is uncircumcised may partake of it. 49 The law shall be the same for the resident alien as for the native.”
requires all of the community to participate. To fail to eat of the Lamb excluded one from the community. It also prohibits those outside the community from participating; they must join the community if they wish to participate.

Joe,
Thanks for providing those verses. I had never read them before. How interesting verses 44 and 45 were to me! If I am wrong please correct me, but I can read that as saying non-Catholics may not participate in the Eucharist. Does this make any sense??

MC,
Can I ask what book you are reading?

It’s a prelude to the Holy Eucharist yes. Because the Holy Eucharist has it’s roots in the Passover Meal.

That is the way I read it. I think I got it from Tim Staples.
