The Sacrament of Reconciliation - PLZ help?

Ok, today, I messed up, I messed up bad. Not to the point to where any irrepairable damage took place, I just caused a lot of stress today by my moods =(

The reason I am writing this is because I know I have sinned. And yet I don’t even know how I can atone. MY question for all of you is this: What happens, when someone has a sin they want to get off of them but cannot go to confession at the time? Is there something else a not-yet-Catholic can do? Thanks for all help =)

You can do what a Catholic would do before going to confession, preferably in a church or adoration chapel: examine your conscience, pray an act of contrition for your sins, ask God for forgiveness; and apologize to anyone you may have stressed out by your actions!
