I want to tell you, I do not recommend Karol - The Man who became Pope. It was made by universal studios and contains immodest images.

I’d prefer the movie St. Don Bosco instead.

But if you are interested in the life of Karol during the world war II this movie depicts it. I have just watched the first part and had felt uneasy about it.

Not recommended. Be careful

God bless you Maria. 🙂 I never knew there was a movie based on John Paul II.

Yes but I don’t recommend it. I’m watching it now and I see violent images such as war. Because it is at the time of Hitler. And some inappropriate kissing. I don’t like it, I just fast forward it. It is a hollywood movie. Be careful

Watch St. John Paul II in person instead

Or Mother Teresa Movie

Or St. Don Bosco Movie

The St. Don Bosco movie contains immodest images and violent images too, but more mild. Just fast forward.

Movies are sometimes compromising, even saints movies 😛 I like Mother teresa movie best. It doesn’t contain anything that will lead you to sin

Sorry for posting Pope John Paul Karol - The Man who became pope link. I would delete it if I could.

May the merciful Jesus bless you

I started watching it yesterday(about the first half). Yes, it is violent because of the real life history but it is probably important to show these scenes because it was a major part of Pope John Paul II’s life and what led to his spiritual life. Mother Teresa is violent in a more subtle way showing the poor, ill and dying people who live in Calcutta. Life is violent for many many people.
I thought the violent scenes were really important because it shows how brutal and inhuman people can get under certain circumstances.
What did you think of The Passion of The Christ then or any other movie that shows the passion of Jesus:confused:

I don’t really like the Passion of Christ. It is a hollywood movie.

But I have watched it twice and have cried tears everytime I do.

What I feel awkward is Jim Caviezel playing Jesus, while he had done many secular movies.

I like Jesus Movie which was made in 1979 instead 🙂

I watch the movie Karol with discretion, I also wanted to know his real life 🙂 But I have only gotten 2 parts so far. I dislike the inappropriate kissing and hugging. Be careful Lui. Usually I just fast forward it or cast my eyes down

You don’t seem to like Hollywood movies but ‘The Song of Bernadette’ is also a Hollywood movie and is great.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpd7_6qg2Po

Here is the Jesus movie(not a Hollywood movie) that is considered to be one of the best but it is in Italian The Gospel According to St. Matthew:
youtube.com/watch?v=-y8fQeVGEF0&feature=related or you can buy(or rent) it here: amazon.com/Gospel-According-St-Matthew/dp/B00009Y3PP/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1310336839&sr=8-5 You can actually just watch the Italian version because the dialog is accurately based on the Gospel of St. Matthew.

I didn’t think the kissing and hugging is inappropriate in the Karol movie. Why? Kissing and hugging isn’t a sin. Anyway I don’t mind these kind of scenes. If I would be shocked by these scenes I wouldn’t be able to watch anything on TV;)

Actually I don’t watch tv;)

I don’t know, maybe I am weak. If I see people kissing and hugging, I tend to think impure thoughts. So I don’t want to commit that sin against Jesus, I just fast forward it.

May the merciful Jesus bless you Lui.

You like saints books and saints movies, so do I. But the appropriate ones. Song of Bernadette’s movie star is too pretty for me, so I do not watch it :o

We’re best buds:D

I talked to my confession priest about this. He told me that having impure thoughts isn’t really a sin. I mean to a certain extent of course. He said if a person is too cautious he might sin that might lead to Scrupulosity. Of course it’s your own choice what you chose to watch and what to avoid:)
May the merciful Jesus bless you Lui.
Thank you.

I liked Song of Bernadette but I also thought she is much prettier compared to the real Bernadette for movie reasons but the actress of the two other Bernadette movies is extremely pretty as well: youtube.com/watch?v=fo4FUz6swyI

The actress who plays St. Lucia in The Miracles of Fatima is much prettier as the real St. Lucia too. That’s the movie business:)

This is quite an old thread (beginning in 2011). Some of the links may not work-the first blogspot link didn’t. But, many did. And, if you’re concerned about copyright laws, there are many movies that are available for a rental fee. I did notice that ’ Song of Bernadette ’ was available both ways.

But, much of what is available, like speeches, images, and non-commercial documentaries are either not copyrighted, or come under the ‘fair use’ exception I’m glad this thread was found and resurfaced. There are some book threads, too, that pop up when someone adds a new item, or asks a question. Book copyrights are carefully monitored by their publishers, and are seldom offered for free. But then, most Saint books are in the public domain.
