Hello again,

Someone asked if Christians worshiped the same God as Muslims do.

From a Muslim’s response, the answer is, we worship the only One worthy of worship, the Creator of the universe, of you and me.

We do not attribute unto Him anyone or anything and nothing is comparable unto Him.

We believe He has no need of anyone, anything, no needs to be met, free from all things humanly and non human attributed unto Him.

He is indeed the Creator.
Now, from the Christian standpoint:*

They believe that Jesus is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 3 in one…other words, The Trinity. Catholics believe that Mary is the mother of God. That Jesus is the Son of God and yet God and yet the Holy Spirit all rolled into one.

Now if you compare the two, they are different. The same concept is taught to both beliefs. One God in Islam. and yet the Trinity is to be considered One as well. 1+1+1=1

In Islam we consider this against the Creator’s nature (the trinity). It isn’t for one to attribute human qualities to such a divine being worthy of worship. Humans have faults, humans are created and humans die. Whereas God NEVER DIES, NO PART OF HIM WHATSOEVER. He is the first and the last and nothing is comparable to Him.

The answer is no.

Thank you

If I agree with your position, that the two are not the same, how can we determine who is correct?

We should compair the God of both faiths to Judaism. Is Allah the same as God of the Ancient Jews?

I see the Qu’ran has not yet cleared up for you exactly what Christians believe. Jesus is not God the Father, or God the Holy Spirit.

Excellent suggestion, I have to say.

Translation:

In Islam, we cannot conceive of how three persons could be one God. Therefore since we puny humans cannot comprehend it, it cannot be true. We simply refuse to believe that God might be mightier and more glorious than mere human reason can fully comprehend. If humans can’t be three persons in one being, then neither can God.

Seems a bit proud to me. 😉

According to Muslims, Muhammed was meditating in a cave one day when the angel “Gabriel” appeared to him and said:

Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- Taught man that which he knew not.(Qur’an 96:1-5)

Now, according to Catholicism, either this “Gabriel” was a fabrication of Muhammed’s mind (unlikely) or a fallen angel claiming to be the real Archangel Gabriel. Either way, this “Gabriel” was false, and the god he was sent by was not our God (As God would not deliver such a message as the Koran, or send Gabriel to tell Muhammed to found the Muslim religion) so, therefore, the Muslim god, is not the same as the Judeo-Christian God (Which, by the way, I spoke to the cantor at the local synegogue, and he affirmed that Jews consider the Christian God the Father is the same as the Jewish God).

Plus, the god in the Koran says things our God would never say!

Which one of the attributes of Allah is “I AM”?
In Jewish thought, a name is not merely an arbitrary designation, a random combination of sounds. The name conveys the nature and essence of the thing named. It represents the history and reputation of the being named.
This is not as strange or unfamiliar a concept as it may seem at first glance. In English, we often refer to a person’s reputation as his “good name.” When a company is sold, one thing that may be sold is the company’s “good will,” that is, the right to use the company’s name. The Hebrew concept of a name is very similar to these ideas.
An example of this usage occurs in Ex. 3:13-22: Moses asks God what His “name” is. Moses is not asking “what should I call you;” rather, he is asking “who are you; what are you like; what have you done.” That is clear from God’s response. God replies that He is eternal, that He is the God of our ancestors, that He has seen our affliction and will redeem us from bondage.

And which son did G*d ask Abraham to sacrifice?

Not the same there, either.

They believe that Jesus is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 3 in one…other words, The Trinity.
This is a false statement. Christians do not believe Jesus is God the Father or God the Holy Spirit.

Try to understand a topic before you attempt to expound on it.
Catholics believe that Mary is the mother of God.
All orthodox Christians refer to Mary as Mother of God. But Mary isn’t divine, a deity, or a godess. She was a mere human being.

**Hello,
am sure you did not learn this is a “Baptist” no Jesus is not God the Father nor God the Holy Spirit
.

Ya know, when I was studying about Islam, I was questioning my mother and stepfather. (both my parents remarried) and I asked them, “Why do you say God in three persons”? They looked at me quizzical and answered, 'you don’t know what you are talkin about, God is three personalities, the father, the son and the holy ghost…not three but one…then, me as I was then, quoted or rather sang to them a hymn (I was in the choir), the hymn Holy Holy Holy…it goes like this, “Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty, God in THREE PERSONS, BLESSED TRINITY.” Well, to their amazement, they were very upset with me and angered by what I accused them of (not knowing what they were saying lol) and they changed the subject lol) typical way to get out of things. 🙂
Mary has nothing to do with the Trinity…the Quran got it wrong.
I didn’t say the Quran said anything about what mary is to the trinity. 🙂 you got that wrong :o I said Catholics believe lol
better, 1x1x1=1 since the Word of God and Spirit of God are eternal and uncreated
.

the word of God is created…as you claim the Bible is …the spirit is what? according to the bible? Angel Jibril in one place and Jesus in another…which one ya referrin to? 🙂
when the light bulb is broken, does the electricity ceize to exist? answer : no. God does not die. The human body Jesus took does.
We do not associate partners to God. God’s Word and Spirit is His essence, not partners unless you believe God is Wordless and Spiritless.
yet you do associate a partner to Allah when you believe that the Quran is eternal and uncreated, not Allah yet not other than Allah.
lol no the electricity is there, but it could have shortened out…not lasted or burnt lol God just does not die…simple …God doesn’t need to be placed in the human body…He has no reason to, He is the creator of Humans lol

I believe God’s final words to mankind are true. I cannot describe God to being in a faulty machine that can have the capability of dying away…to low a place to place my Creator in. 🙂

The words of God are in His final message to mankind. The Quran was indeed created. Books are created. The book of life was created Loha Mahfoth it is called in Arabi…where everything that is, that was and will be and is…is documented on it…was created. 🙂 I never said the Quran was not created :). God’s message was the last message to us and we will be held accountable on the Day of Reckoning if we do not take heed of it.

It would be nice to compare religions instead of having people bad mouth religion constantly. They are so proud of their stance that sometimes they don’t see what is right in front of them until someone shows them. I was like that LOOOOOL man, constantly I did argue, yelled, threw tantrums, had fits of anger all because I thought I was the correct one all the time. It wasn’t until I met a Muslim and was given a Quran that I became HUMAN>lol.😃

Anyways, it is late now, time to head out. I will try to be back tomorrow inshaAllah if possible. Night yall and be a good example of your faith.

Just to get it right. Christian teaching is that there is ONE God, who is three persons, not three personalities. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Yes, this is very mysterious. I don’t blame Muhammed for finding it incomprehensible and rejecting it. Its just not possible to be three persons in one being - for humans. 😉

Christians share with Muslims a sense of awe for God as Creator of all, all powerful, all knowing… It is true that he needs nothing from us. He is entirely self-sufficient. We don’t believe that God the Son became Incanarnate because he needed something from us, or because he yearned for our company. We believe that it was out of LOVE for us that he came to redeem us from our miserable sinfulness. He came and offered Himself up to be humiliated by us sinners because he loves us anyways. The Trinity didn’t die on the cross. Jesus, God incarnate did. By dying on the cross, He once again demonstrated his love for us. Not because He needed it, but because we in our weakness needed it.

The difficulty of understanding the Trinity and Incarnation is not an argument against it. Why be surprised that God is more complicated than his creation? Ever made something yourself? Aren’t YOU more complicated than what you made?

Ya know, when I was studying about Islam, I was questioning my mother and stepfather. (both my parents remarried) and I asked them, “Why do you say God in three persons”? They looked at me quizzical and answered, 'you don’t know what you are talkin about, God is three personalities, the father, the son and the holy ghost…

This is not true, they are gravely mistaken.
not three but one…then, me as I was then, quoted or rather sang to them a hymn (I was in the choir), the hymn Holy Holy Holy…it goes like this, “Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty, God in THREE PERSONS, BLESSED TRINITY.”

I didn’t say the Quran said anything about what mary is to the trinity. 🙂 you got that wrong :o I said Catholics believe lol
Apparently you are an expert in Catholicism even though you never were Catholic yourself. How smart and smug you must feel (also in disobeying and arguing against your parents).
lol no the electricity is there, but it could have shortened out…not lasted or burnt lol God just does not die…simple …God doesn’t need to be placed in the human body…He has no reason to, He is the creator of Humans lol
This is a prideful argument. We are warned to be mindful of pride. It’s a shame if Muhammad did not copy that from the Christians as he did many other things. You seem to think you know best what God can and cannot do (blasphemy), and what He “needs” (more blasphemy) and what His reasons are for doing what He does (even MORE blasphemy). And then you turn around and try to tell Christians that THEY are the ones who are limiting or underestimating God! Please…what utter nonsense!
I cannot describe God to being in a faulty machine that can have the capability of dying away…to low a place to place my Creator in. 🙂
Well then, it’s a good thing that Jesus was victorious over death then, isn’t it? Too bad you do not believe in Him as you claim you once did.

If it is such a “lowly position” to place your creator in, then why do you also bring him down to YOUR level by saying that He can’t do this, or He can’t do that, or that you know His reasons or motivations? God is not your experiment. You do not control Him, and you cannot say that you know God just because you have a book. You would understand this if you were ever a orthodox (or Orthodox) Christian. We do not claim that the Bible tells us everything about God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. This why our traditions have produced the greatest of theologians and philosophers: this intersection between what we can know through what God tells us through the Bible and what we fully accept we can never truly and completely comprehend (the mystery of the Trinity, etc). We do not keep God imprisoned in the pages of a book, as you Muslims apparently are okay with doing.
The words of God are in His final message to mankind.
Indeed! I completely agree! So why add to them in a way that perverts their meaning with this called “Quran”? If you’re going to believe in that, why not also believe in the Baha’i book, or Joseph Smith’s Book of Mormon? They also claim to be final messages of God to mankind. Why are they wrong but the Quran is not?
It would be nice to compare religions
This is what we are doing right now. Thank you for starting this thread so that we may have another opportunity to do so.
instead of having people bad mouth religion constantly.
I agree. Stop badmouthing Christianity. 🙂
They are so proud of their stance that sometimes they don’t see what is right in front of them until someone shows them.
Maaaan…tell me about it…
constantly I did argue, yelled, threw tantrums, had fits of anger all because I thought I was the correct one all the time.
Wow, it sounds like you had some serious personal problems. I’m sorry to hear that. I’m glad I have been taught (and am constantly being reminded) the value of humility in Christianity. It is a great gift and lesson for us all, no matter what our religion.
It wasn’t until I met a Muslim and was given a Quran that I became HUMAN>lol.😃
So the Quran made you human? Islam made you human? I don’t really understand that (I thought only God made humans), but okay. If that’s how you feel. We are taught in Christianity that God made humanity in His image, and this is in the Old Testament, before there were any Christians to speak of. So I’m not sure if I can exactly say that the Bible made me human. It is probably more correct to say that the Bible tells me what it means to be a human being as God created us to be. People are still human whether or not they believe in the Bible, still endowed with the natural rights and dignity granted to them by their Creator whether they recognize Him or not, but those of us who follow Christ make the effort, take up our crosses, so that we may cease wandering in the desert, seeking the peace that is already and always there.

Hello again and good mornin,
Apparently you are an expert in Catholicism even though you never were Catholic yourself. How smart and smug you must feel (also in disobeying and arguing against your parents).
Those are your words not mine. I don’t put claim to them. I did study a little about Catholicism on my journey. 🙂

Ya know, I felt a sense of pain to tell you the truth. Because although I sang that very famous hymn known by all practically, it was a shame to see that they too, did not understand their belief as they see it. It felt bad inside but to them, they just didn’t want to be embarrassed so the subject was changed. After that, onwards, they hardly ever questioned my knowledge of the Bible. This puts pain to me, not smartness because I want them to wake up and understand what they say instead of just listening and obeying what others tell them.
This is a prideful argument. We are warned to be mindful of pride. etc…(post got too long so you have to refer back to your words sorry)
It was in a form of humorous gesture. Something that am sure you have as well as everyone else. 🙂 Yes, I have heard this argument over and over, that Mohammad copied from the Bible. Now if you can tell me, the discrepancies that are found within and throughout the Bible, find ONE OF THE SAME THAT IS IN THE QURAN, then we can talk…but to attribute a book of many faults to one that hasn’t any, their is nothing really to say.
As I have said before, God knows us better than we know ourselves. I do not put myself before God nor have I ever stated that I know more, nor have I stated that I know how HE thinks or acts. This is our Creator whom we cannot imagine. BUT, we do know the laws He has laid forth for us to follow, His message for us to believe in, and in this we are to believe He is the All Knower, All Seer, All Hearer etc. etc. etc. 🙂
I have every claim to this yes, I have stated that they are taking God for granted. They say or lay claim to their beliefs without God’s authenticated approval, they believe they are worthy for God to die for them as if they deserve it, they take what they want from the Bible, they add and delete what they wish from many Bibles, and yes, confusion amongst many denominations and faiths. Now, this I lay claim to with proofs from the Christians themselves. Remember I used to be one lol.
We do not keep God imprisoned in the pages of a book, as you Muslims apparently are okay with doing.
Well, according to Islam, Jesus never died but was risen up and is awaiting the second coming. According to the Bible, GOD DID…well, yall claim 1/3 of him did…even went to hell for a bit. Ya call that victorious to send God to hell?

I didn’t bring him down to my level. Yall brought him lower than yall’s. I believe In the God Supreme. Above such things…has no need to prove Himself to His Creations. 🙂 This is not belittling God, this is raising Him in Status higher than imaginable. I know of God what He tells of Himself to us in His final message to mankind. I don’t second guess His words. I do not explain without proof like yall do. Looks like the second guessing and not knowing their Creator falls back to yall.

This is sad indeed. A message you claim to be from God Himself and tells you a secret. Traditions are not from God, they are from man. Prophets/Messengers are walking messages from God but man, well, they are fallible, having sin.

The mystery of the Trinity. Amazing. Tell me where Jesus ever said the word trinity or wait, forget that I already know the answer. But if you truly believe that God is here to not give you a guideline of truth~the main practice and belief of your belief and faith, then why are you believing in what you believe?
Indeed! I completely agree! So why add to them in a way that perverts their meaning with this called “Quran”? If you’re going to believe in that, why not also believe in the Baha’i book, or Joseph Smith’s Book of Mormon? They also claim to be final messages of God to mankind. The Quran is not perverted. Because the Quran has one thing no other book has. Allah’s official claim on it. He says it is from HIM and no one can defeat that. Sure, they can say what they wish, what they will, what their own belief thinks it is, but they cannot dispute God. Ya just can’t. 🙂 Man wrote books, Mohammad (sws) never claimed to even write the Quran. God HIMSELF did.
I agree. Stop badmouthing Christianity.
lol sure, like I would do that. I came from Christianity, I respect my family that are still into it, but I will still stand up for what I can see straight out, witness straight out, and put straight out there and that is truth. If the truth hurts, it hurts. This isn’t bad mouthing Christianity. It is called, truth. Now bad mouthing is degrading in a sense of not even being able to hold a dialogue, a discussion…for there are so many people who just criticize without thinkin. I am one that thinks Allah ybarak and if people don’t like it, they can lump it. lol
Maaaan…tell me about it…
lol I hope you don’t mean me~you should go talk to my mom lol
Wow, it sounds like you had some serious personal problems. I’m sorry to hear that. I’m glad I have been taught (and am constantly being reminded) the value of humility in Christianity. It is a great gift and lesson for us all, no matter what our religion.
lol no they were not personal, just serious enough for a wake up call to come…which it did lol. Well, it actually arose from Christians since they were the ones that were not given me straight forward answers LOOL. Seriously, in all due respect, I did get hurt quite a lot. My personal salvation was at stake. I was taught to accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior all my life and that all you had to do was knock and he will let you in…etc. etc. etc…I was such a strict believer in the Bible, sunday school, rivivals, camps (had fun at Camp David in Florida that was cool!), went to tALLAHassee (you should look up what tAllahassee means lol) for Choir competitions, went to Jamaica with the Choir and spread the gospel, went to church on sunday mornins, evenins, wed nights, thurs evenins (we had visitation on thurs nights where we would go out and talk to those who visited our church), we had youth gatherins after church and man, you could say I was indeed a believer in Christianity. I knew what it was to be a Christian and then when you get stunned a bit, you fight back….IS A NORMAL RESPONSE OF DEFENSE. Everyone has it…even you lol. So naturally, I defended my belief then and the more I tried, the more I found it to be undefendable lol. I started listening more and kept my mouth shut and then I seriously started to search on my own. Thank God.
So the Quran made you human? Islam made you human? I don’t really understand that (I thought only God made humans), but okay. If that’s how you feel. See, sarcastically said, but nonetheless humorous. lol
Now, if you are taught that God made you in His image, then how come in another place in the Bible it says you have neither seen Him nor heard his voice. Contradiction?

I know what you say, trust me please, I totally know what you are saying…been there, have experienced it and lived it. But now, you have heard my side of things, told you things and have shown you things. You are now responsible in front of your Creator for what you do not try and find out. As a sincere person wanting the best for another, look into what I have said. Don’t push things aside and call me brainwashed, stupid, dumb, etc. Those are useless words with no meaning to you. You are now responsible and will be called to account. I am totally serious. I want the best for you.

No. that is an incorrect view of the Trinity. Jesus is true God, not 1/3 God. You shouldn’t speak about things you do not know.
even went to hell for a bit. Ya call that victorious to send God to hell?
LOL, you have no clue what you’re talking about. Hell here (as used in the Creed, “He descended into hell”) means in the broader sense, “the place of the dead”. Not Gehenna-fire Hell. 🙂
I didn’t bring him down to my level. Yall brought him lower than yall’s.
We didn’t do anything. Christ, the Son of God freely chose to come amongst us. This is why we were made in His image, so we would be a fitting vessel for Christ’s Incarnation.
I believe In the God Supreme. Above such things…has no need to prove Himself to His Creations.
I agree. 🙂
I don’t second guess His words. I do not explain without proof like yall do.
Still waiting for that proof…

(Crickets chirping in background) 🤷
Looks like the second guessing and not knowing their Creator falls back to yall.
How smug of you. Your attitude is a major turn-off of having a decent discussion.
This is sad indeed. A message you claim to be from God Himself and tells you a secret.
No-one said anything about a secret…🙂
Traditions are not from God, they are from man.
LOL, Islam is chock-full of traditions… circumambulation, ablution, prayer five times a day, touching the stone in the Ka’aba, throwing stones at the “Devil”. 🙂
Prophets/Messengers are walking messages from God but man, well, they are fallible, having sin.
Oh? I though Islam taught that the prophets were sinless.
The mystery of the Trinity. Amazing. Tell me where Jesus ever said the word trinity or wait, forget that I already know the answer.
The original Christians (Catholics) don’t believe in Sola Scriptura, so this is an invalid point. 🙂
God.
Then answer me this:

Why does the Koran say that the Trinity believed by the Christians is God, Jesus, and Mary? That’s a complete factual mistake.

The Koran says in one place, man was created from a clot of congealed blood (96:2), in another place from clay (15:26).
from dust (3:59). Out of nothing (19:67, Also, 52:35). Why all the contradiction?

In the Koran (10:90-92) it is said that Pharoah was eventually saved from drowning in the Red Sea. But it also says (17:102-103) that he drowned and all that were with him. Why?

It was somewhere in the Koran where it said the sun set in a swamp or lake? We all know, nowadays, that that is false.
lol no they were not personal, just serious enough for a wake up call to come…which it did lol. Well, it actually arose from Christians since they were the ones that were not given me straight … more I found it to be undefendable lol. I started listening more and kept my mouth shut and then I seriously started to search on my own. Thank God.
How old are you? You seem childish. 🤷

My search from a disgruntled Protestant upbringing, I can understand. It led me to the doors of the Church after looking for truth on my own. I’ve been an Anglican, Agnostic, Buddhist, Synchretist, bu never a Muslim. Franky, it seemed illogical and the Koran seemed infantile and foolish, often contradicting itself.

Hello,
in which Catholic book did you read that Mary is part of the Trinity?
I never said she was a part of the trinity…but hmm let me ask you this, if she was considered to be the mother of God, then wouldn’t she be higher than God?
why do you want them to wake up if you yourself do not understand Christianity? you thought Islam is easier right?
No Islam is very complex. Trust me. When you read without bias~ness or hate or criticism intended and read with sincerity, you start to see things more in a clearer fashion than what you usually see. That is what took place. You begin to see things for the first time…words that actually are there that just don’t make sense 🙂
as if you will agree to any discrepancy we point out? you will not agree because Allah says you will not find any descripancy so you are already not open to such possibility without opposing Allah and Muslims are afraid to doubt Muhammad/Allah.
I said, discrepancy, not in belief, but something wrong with words, punctuation, contradictions etc. 🙂 beliefs, everyone can say something about that…that isn’t a contradiction or a discrepancy. It isn’t doubting Allah at all. He said the Quran is for those with understanding. We can all understand what is being said if we have the truth and facts.
which Islamic denomination do you follow? so far you are surely not a Sunni…are you Shia?
I am upon the Selef usSalah. I do not attribute myself to a sect for in Islam, it will as well be divided into 73 sects as stated in Sahih ahadith. I say I am muslim and I prove my stance and I ask other muslims to do the same. InshaAllah (God willing)
according to Islam, they have no clue as to what happened on that day since most Muslims do not even understand the orphan aya used by Allah to refute history. No we do not believe God dies, we believe Jesus the man died…The Word of God does not die…you do know that we believe in Jesus’ 2 natures?
**Ok, let me ask you this, you claim God is the father, IS THE SON, and is THE HOLY SPIRIT. Jesus is part of the trinity which yall claim. UNDENIABLY…so that means a part of God died that day. 1/3 of your trinity…you may deny that he didn’t die, but if you say Jesus is God, the son of God and the holy spirit (the trinity), then you are contradicting your own belief. We are not in discussion about the word of God lol we are talkin human and God. **
in Islam prophets are sinless…kinda angels…
**those are your words…no God chose men as messengers not angels…if you read through the Quran you can understand why. 👍 **
why not start a thread on the Trinity where we can quote OT and NT about the Spirit of God and Wisdom of God = God?
Doesn’t really make a difference but I guess that would kinda be a guessing game really since many of the books of the Bible cannot be identified as being totally legit and authenticated by God Himself. How can one know the wisdom of God in the Bible when it isn’t from God Himself but my men who have faults? And ya can’t say the Bible was inspired without the permission from God Himself correct? 🙂
where is tradition?
Ya think tradition saves a person from Hellfire?
the same question applies to Islam…or don’t you know Allah created you in his own image?
They are your words…I hold no claim to them. You think like this because of what you have been taught. Islam says differently.
and listen to our warning…the father of lies’ first technique was to make humans question God’s words…you can call us anything you want, but we are the people who believe in God’s Omnipotence and seriousness…we are not Muslims who attribute corruption to God’s words and render him to our level as a not-so-omnipotent and not so serious deity whose mood and power resemble that of a man, not God.
**I believe you believe in God. I also believe that you have the wrong concept of wanting and trying to prove that belief to others but fail to on account of your belief not being able to be authenticated by your Creator. Is true. You cannot prove that God is the author of the Bible.

Muslims do not attribute any corruption to Allah. They attribute to Him what suits His Majesty in all goodness. WE Muslims do not believe a part of God dies, you do…we do not bring our Creator to that level of degradation. A man god…amazing. “Thou shalt have no other god’s before Me.” Where was the trinity then? Moses NEVER TAUGHT IT…nor did any other messenger or prophet (peace and blessings be upon them all). They all taught monotheism, ONE GOD.**
