This is a mormon argument and i was wondering if the parts about Genos and the greek word for offspring hold any weight and if there is a better explanation.
Here’s the Greek transliteration
studylight.org/isb/bible.cgi?query=acts+17§ion=0&it=kjv&ot=bhs&nt=na
17:28For in him we live (5719) , and move (5743) , and have our being (5748) ; as certain also of your own poets have said (5758) , For we are (5748) also his offspring.

17:29 Forasmuch then as we are (5723) the offspring of God, we ought (5719) not to think (5721) that the Godhead is (5750) like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

So genos was translated as “race” 3 times in the New American Standard version, but translated as many other things as well.
If the person gives the verse citation for “angels” you could also look up and see whether it was “theoi” (Gods) or not.
The Greek English translator gives “angels” as
kypros.org/cgi-bin/lexicon
angel = άγγελος ο
agkelos o
while God is
god = θεός
theos
(Gods is theoi)
