the word in the earliest text for “angels” is actually “gods”, I guess it was too painful for the early translators to put the correct word. And we believe that we are not only the same species as the angels but as of God also. My page on Godhood of Man will elaborate more on this but the greek word for “offspring” used in Acts 17:28-29 is “GENOS” which literally translates to RACE. We are indeed the same race as God and it is completely Biblical and was completely accepted by early Christian Fathers as well. This is explained further on my article on godhood.
This is a mormon argument and i was wondering if the parts about Genos and the greek word for offspring hold any weight and if there is a better explanation.

Here’s the Greek transliteration
studylight.org/isb/bible.cgi?query=acts+17&section=0&it=kjv&ot=bhs&nt=na

17:28For in him we live (5719) , and move (5743) , and have our being (5748) ; as certain also of your own poets have said (5758) , For we are (5748) also his offspring.
En autw gar zwmen (5719) kai kinoumeqa (5743) kai esmen, (5748) wv kai tinev twn kaq’ umav poihtwn eirhkasin, (5758) Tou gar kai genov esmen. (5748)

17:29 Forasmuch then as we are (5723) the offspring of God, we ought (5719) not to think (5721) that the Godhead is (5750) like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
genov oun uparxontev (5723) tou qeou ouk ofeilomen (5719) nomizein (5721) xrusw h argurw h liqw, xaragmati texnhv kai enqumhsewv anqrwpou, to qeion einai (5750) omoion.

The notes on “genov”
Original Word Word Origin
geÑnov from (1096)
Transliterated Word Phonetic Spelling
Genos ghen’-os
Parts of Speech TDNT
Noun Neuter 1:684,117
Definition
kindred
offspring
family
stock, tribe, nation
i.e. nationality or descent from a particular people
the aggregate of many individuals of the same nature, kind, sort

Translated Words
KJV (21) - born, 2; diversity, 1; kind, 5; kindred, 3; misc., 3; nation, 2; offspring, 3; stock, 2;
NAS (19) - birth, 2; countrymen, 2; descendant, 1; descent, 1; family, 2; kind, 3; kinds, 3; nation, 1; native, 1; race, 3;

So genos was translated as “race” 3 times in the New American Standard version, but translated as many other things as well.

If the person gives the verse citation for “angels” you could also look up and see whether it was “theoi” (Gods) or not.

The Greek English translator gives “angels” as kypros.org/cgi-bin/lexicon
angel = άγγελος ο
agkelos o

while God is
god = θεός
theos
(Gods is theoi)
