What exactly is the scholastic method?

Could it be a question and answer technique used by St. Thomas Aquinas
in his Summa Theologica?
 
I have heard of scholasticism, the method of study promoted by “the schools” that is the earliest universities which began as schools of theology, and yes Thomas Aquinas is the greatest representative of that tradtion, but I never heard of the scholastic method per se. The socratic method, named for the Greek philosopher, is a question and answer technique of teaching philosophy. Peter Kreeft’s books are modern interpretations and usages of both these traditions.
