The Science Behind Meditation, and Why It Makes You Feel Better

They discuss the mental changes that take place when you focus on a single thought for an extended period of time. Being as most are more familiar with Buddhist practices, that’s what the article focuses on, but it applies to the Jesus Prayer and silent prayer where you focus on God’s presence as well. We just have a supernatural advantage because grace supercharges our practices 😃
 
This is fascinating to me. While studying how trauma affects brain development in children, the use of meditative therapies have been proposed. During my training as a therapist, I was also going through Formation as a Disciple of Jesus and Mary. I think that it makes sense that prayer can heal the body and mind even on a natural level. God created us. He knows what we need.
