"…Roffman is basing his search on the Bible Code … a code encrypted in the Bible some 3,000 years ago, now unlocked by computer.

The mathematician who discovered the code was Dr. Eliyahu Rips, one of the world`s leading experts in group theory, the field that underlies quantum physics. Jones is basing his research on the Talmud.

Once a Christian pastor, he left his post to become a leader of the Noahide movement, Gentiles who observe the seven laws of Noah. His search is aided by an ancient document found in Qumran together with the Dead Sea Scrolls, known as the “Copper Scroll.” He is convinced that he has p(name removed by moderator)ointed the ark`s location…"

"In the case of Vendyl Jones, he plans to uncover the lost Ark of the Covenant by Tisha b`Av. It was the resting place of the Ten Commandments, given to the Jews at Mt. Sinai and supposedly hidden just before the First Temple was destroyed.

Although the Talmud says the Ark is hidden under the Temple Mount, Jones believes the tunnel continues 18 miles to the south and is now in the Judean Desert. Jones is not Jewish, although his daughter Sarah has converted and lives in Samaria (Shomron). However, he is learned in Torah and Talmud and has contact with a mysterious kabbalist who has now given him his blessing to reveal the Ark by Tisha B`Av (August 14th), the anniversary of the destruction of both the First and Second Temples.

But Jones is not alone in his search. Barry Roffman, an Orthodox Jew and a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard and author of Ark Code, ) believes that the Torah codes he has discovered can unlock the secret of the Ark`s location, and his findings are very different from those of Vendyl Jones.

According to Roffman, there are maps encoded in the Torah. Key site names are encoded in such a way that the angles between Jerusalem, Arabic sites and a suspect Egyptian Ark site correspond to actual course headings on real world maps. The site, which he describes as 31 degrees 9 minutes North, 33 degrees 4 minutes East, is where a cloud of fire blocked the Egyptian army from the Israelites before we crossed the Sea of Reeds (Yam Suf) at Lake Bardawil in Northern Sinai, Egypt.

He cites Jeremiah as the last prophet to control the Ark before finishing his life in that area of Egypt. Roffmans research is unique, quite different from methods used by other Bible code researchers. It is rooted in his expertise as a Coast Guard military planner. He has explanations as to why Jeremiah took the Ark to the site of the splitting of the sea, and believes that the Arks purpose is to prevent a nuclear war between Israel and its enemies.

So now, the world is waiting with bated breath. Will it be Jones or Roffman who finds the Ark of the Covenant? Will it be found in Israel or in Egypt? Will it be discovered by means of ground-penetrating radar?

What will be the religious, political and scientific implications and ramifications if it is found? And what else can we learn of the future from the words encrypted in the Bible codes or the secrets of the Talmud? We may not have long to wait. The Nobel Laureate physicist, Richard Feynman, put it this way:

“To solve any problem that has never been solved before, you have to leave the door to the unknown, ajar.”

There is a book, and I am not certain as to what it was called, written by an archaeologist (I think) whom spent years looking for it. The book is huge, far too much for me to have read. I gazed through it. What I got out of it is that he says the Ark came to be guarded by a particular group of people in the middle of some jungle in Africa, and has been ever since. I believe he has claimed to have been in its presence, though I am unsure on this point.

There is an interesting claim that the Ark of the Covenant is in the small town of Axum in Ethiopia. It is housed and safeguarded at the Church of St. Mary Zion. This theory is a very interesting one and has some interesting details surrounding it.

I think that was what I was talking about. Wgat is interesting about it?

Hi all!

Tisha B’Av (jewfaq.org/holidayd.htm) is this Saturday night/Sunday, so Wendyl Jones will soon have to put up or shut up.

I, the orthodox Jew, will believe it when it happens.

This aish.com/literacy/jewishhistory/Video_The_Ark_of_the_Covenant__(1_min_56_sec).asp might be interesting.

Methinks that Mr. Jones ought to be careful. He might want to pack some Preparation H (preparationh.com/). The last time some non-Jews handled the Ark, they were…ah…left in arrears (see I Samuel 5).

Be well!

That’s awesome! lol!

It brings up an interesting question, however…assuming the Ark were to be found, who would handle it? There are no “pure bloods” left from any of the tribes that we know of, right?

God Bless,
RyanL

Would it be able to be handled by a Catholic because of the “new covenant” and “New Jerusalem?”

Just a thought,
Aaron Magnan 😉

Still Small Voice,

(ROFL) I, a Catholic, will also believe it when it happens.

I thought about this. If it did happen, and the guy was fine, one of two things would happen:

all the Jews would become atheists

all the Jews would become Christian

(or half and half)

The Ethipoians are the only Church that has claimed to ever have the Ark of the Covenant. No one else has made that claim. I guess I am inclined to believe them since no one seems to be contradicting them, and they have maintained their story for over two thousand years.

An additional note, The churches of Ethiopia and Eratria (sp) both consecrate the Eucharist on altars containing replicas of the ten commandments. The new and the old covenants meet.

Now, THAT is interesting.

Hi all!

The original Hebrew of I Samuel 5 is quite clear; God zapped the Philistines in Gath and Ekron with hemmorhoids.
…and the cry of the city went up to Heaven.
I’ll bet it did! Ouch!

RyanL, you posted:

You’re, in effect, asking how we can be sure who is a Levite these days? See forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=435322&highlight=Levite#post435322.

This is the million shekel question. I imagine that our rabbis would have to think long & hard on this one before they would let anybody touch it. As I mention in the above link, I’m a Levite. I suppose, to paraphrase Clint Eastwood from 1971’s Dirty Harry, that I would have to ask myself, “Do I feel lucky?”

Howzat?

This jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/ark.html is a pretty good article about the Ark.

Be well!

Stillsmallvoice,

I found the following info…could you please tell me if it’s correct?

Marriages involving Kohanim

The Torah prohibits a Kohen from marrying women of certain specified categories: A divorcee, a “defiled” woman, or a “harlot”. It ordains that any Kohen who makes such a marriage loses his priestly status [Lev. 21:6–7]. The Talmudic understanding of the word “harlot” also encompasses the meaning “proselyte” (or “convert”). According to the Talmud the act of marriage, although prohibited, was effective if a Kohen married in disregard of the prohibitions. Any children born of the union are legitimate.

Since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, there have been no more sacrificial services, but the sanctified status of the Kohanim remains in force.

Women and the priesthood

A Bat Kohen is the daughter of a Kohen. The Talmud states that she loses her status as a Kohenet (i.e. “female Kohen”) when she marries a non-Kohen. Some rulings in traditional Jewish law allow for the ruling that a Bat Kohen may perform the ritual of pidyon ha-ben, the ceremonial redemption of a first-born son. In practice Orthodox Judaism views this as forbidden. A Bat Kohen may not perform the ritual of Nesiat Kapayim, the priestly blessing sung aloud from the pulpit towards the congregation.

Importance of pedigree

Later Judaism enforced rigidly the laws relating to the pedigrees of priests, and even established similar requirements for the women they married. Proof of a spotless pedigree was necessary for admission to priestly service. Anyone unable to establish their status as a Kohen was excluded from the priesthood.

Unless a woman’s pedigree was known to be unimpeachable, a Kohen, before marrying her, was required to examine it for four generations on both sides, in case she was of priestly lineage; for five generations if she was not of priestly descent.

A Kohen may not marry a proselyte or a freedwoman. Regarding a daughter of such persons, opinion in the Mishnah is divided as to whether or not it was necessary that one of the parents should be of Jewish descent. The decision of later authorities was that, in case both of the woman’s parents were proselytes or freed persons, a priest should not marry her, but if he had done so, then the marriage should be considered legitimate.

A Kohen not complying with these requirements is not allowed to give the priestly blessing.

Talmudic law prescribes that the honor of being first called upon for the reading of the Torah should belong to the priest.

According to the Talmud, the regulations demanding an unimpeachable pedigree continued to be binding, even after the Temple had been destroyed. The reason is that eventually the Jewish Messiah will arrive, gather the Jews back to the land of Israel, rebuild the Temple, and resume the priestly service; at such a time Kohanim of unimpeachable status will be required for such service.

Oh…and BTW:
Recent genetic findings: The Kohen gene

Recently the tradition that Kohanim are actually descended from Aaron was supported by genetic testing (Skorecki et al., 1997). Since all direct male lineage shares a common Y chromosome, testing was done across sectors of the Jewish population to see if there was any commonality between their Y chromosomes. There was proven to be certain distinctions among the “Kohen” Y chromosomes, implying that the Kohanim do share some common ancestry. This information was used to support the claim of the Lemba (a sub-Saharan tribe) that they were in fact, a tribe of Jews. See also Y-chromosomal Aaron.

May God bless you and keep you,
RyanL

I’m moving to Ethiopia! Any reliable sites that would inform me more about the Ethiopian church?

Thanks for the info,
Aaron

Intersting info Hagia, about Jones & Roffmann looking for the original Ark of the Covenant.
(I hope they don’t have as much trouble as Indiana Jones had in his quest-- he, he;) ).

However, as much as I hope they are successful in finding this relic for historical reasons, (especially as a witness to validate the Scriptures), I hope no one really expects God’s glory to still be there.
You see God moved out a long time ago!
According to Apostle Paul God’s glory & power now dwells in the midst of the Church!

So if anyone is looking for God Himself, finding the original ‘Ark of the Covenant’ won’t ensure that he gets the power and presence of the Almighty; you’ll still have to go through Jesus Christ.

Just thought you ought to know,
Faithful One
" I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man can come to the Father except through me" – Jesus

"In Him dwells the fulness of the Godhead bodily". - Col.2:9

I don’t know of any off hand. I was fortunate enough to take a class in college on Eastern Christianity which was one of the single most informative classes I have ever been in.

In the bible there are two places that talk about where the ark is. I won’t type the verses out because I do not type fast and I have to get off of here in a minute. But try reading 2Maccabees Chapter 2:5-8, and, of course, Revelations Chapter 11:19- 12:1. (The verses in Revelations is also a way of defending Mary being the Ark of the Covenant and being in Heaven.)

there is a number of very interesting points brought up regarding
this topic on the ark
one being “who will be able to touch it” , for in the exudus
it stated only a preist could touch it and live,
while the preist of exdus were all member of the family of arron and moses

but if we look closer at the bible, there is 1 other way to become
a preist in the old and new testament
we have to look at samson (one who is like the sun)
he was given over to god before birth to god
to be a NAZIRITE,
to be a nazirite , one had to take certon vows, known
as the nazareen vow, basicly- no cutting of the hair (which was the symbol of the vow) , no wine- stay away from dead bodies- no woman or sex
jhon the baptist was anazirite given over at birth.
st paul -became a nazirte, and was arrested at the temple
while making sacrafices complamentry to the end of a 7 year nazirite vow.
the 3 wise men each brought a gift, frankinsense, meyr , gold
is gift for a king, meyr is a gift for a phrophet, andfrankinsese
is a gift for a preist
and jesus was from the trib od juda, he was not of the tribe of arron.
which give s me pause , to think, he had to be a nazirte,
like samson (one who is like the sun) before him

there are a number of phopheses that have yet to come about
they all hinge on one thing happening 1st , and that is the rebuilding of the temple,
and that will happen when the ark is found,
one of the prophecy is “an earthquake at mount moriaha”(dome of the rock)
i had read on a messanic fourm - that it is written
that the ark will come back from a land where they speak(PURE HEBREW)
probley a phonician hebrew

i think you could touch the ark if you took the nazirite vow,
and when the ark is back in the new 3rd temple
what do you think will happen
(sarafice)
saint paul did it"
the ark is in a place where no one has set eyes on it since
jermiah and berach his scribe put it in a abandon gold mine
dug by the phonicians and the tribe of dan,
you had to get on a ship to get to this mountian.
at the time the main port city of the phonicians was tunis,
by the pillars of samson. in southeren spain,
(not tanis)
the study of samson is the key,
he is the only hero of the dannites,
there own superman.

but the journy to see history is difficult, you have to
lose the vowles

but most of all , in order to see, you must accept - that racisism,
and hate are acids that destroy the jar that holds them.
all through history, god alway works through the minority,
the unimportant, the littleones
