You and I and all always tend to gather among and amidst of like-minded. In England they say: „The working class drinks ale in pubs, the upperclass slowly dies in clubs“.
The Idea is, not to be alone, neither physically, nor in mind. And here is the hook in spite of Pope Benedict who kept saying; he who believes, is never alone.
The hook is: The ability to believe in God - in more than what we can see with our eyes as the beauty of creation, and touch with our hands as the daily bread on our table, and breath with our complete being like the fresh air of a morning, and feel as the clear water of a well running through our hands. Yes, there is even more. Much more than human comprehension can grasp.
As in Creation all is presented in abundance what we need and much more, people think that’s all there is. The end (and what’s after) is forcedly supplanted out of one’s mind. There simply is no „after“ - nothing - nil - nirvana instead; a to be „extinguished“, gone with the wind, end-goal of life as a state of complete rest.
But that’s a nil and nothing-„restT and by no means the decedent eternal rest in Christ. In the first one you really are dead - in the other you are very much alive - in Christ’s peace, love and undisturbed close and loving friendship. Let’s have this in mind when we say or read „rest in peace - RIP“.
Even as a kid I so often protested together with Dad, when reading on graves R.I.P. and I the would say to Dad; hey, in heaven we neither sleep nor rest in dump inaction like a bat in hibernation! And Dad would say, how right you are son and I love you for that. Yes - in heaven we continuously are in hilarious joyful hyper-interaction with God and his angels. For as we here on earth swim in God’s grace like a fish in the ocean, not even knowing that he swims in water, in heaven we swim in God’s love, but this time we see can see with our eyes God, and touch with our hands the Angels and other Saints in heaven, and breath with our complete being the love of the almighty Trinity, and feel as God’s love is running through our complete being.
Oh, I understood this very well, since Mom and Day told me about God ever since I started to understand words. I had great Children-Bibles too with wonderful pictures.
But yes - admittedly it’s some problem to many, to actually believe in God, and many even angrily fight belief - unaware why they do so. It’s simply that they are ridden by the the Prince of the world, unable to determine the direction - inevitably into a jam.
Oh yes. God truly knows that it’s not all that easy to believe! Especially when one enters the adventure of believe later in life. Yes, it is an adventure, and a challenge to jump into belief without any prejudice, for our life is marked and build on prejudices.
We judge anyone and anything in matter of seconds, unaware if that’s right or wrong. We even accept this unsureness - hold on to our conviction that this is as we first thought it was - unless we are convinced otherwise.
