I already posted. I felt it was so-so, but don’t really know why some people are so against it.
I don’t think I would like it and honestly I think I would be writing down in the movie theatre what I saw that was heretical. I don’t want to dismiss it out of nowhere but I don’t have the burning desire to go see it. I don’t think that means that I don’t think other people should enjoy it. I mean like I said I already had a friend who because of that book came into the Church even though he said so himself it was not a Catholic book. I think God can use things like that in very interesting ways. I mean it might be thelogically problematic but at the same time it might be a jumpstart for someone

I saw The Shack tonight and thought it was ok. I did love the message about how much God loves each and every one of us.

During the trailers, they showed The Case For Christ, which I later looked up and learned that this movie opens on April 7th. I REALLY want to see that one.
thanks for sharing!

Dr. Michael Youssef, a Protestant, points out 13 heresies in The Shack.

Apparently, the author of The Shack is connected with the emerging/emergent church. I could not find any Catholic commentary on this, perhaps there is something on another forum here.

Interesting, I had not heard of the emerging church movement. Sounds like hippies, (not all a bad thing) at least they’re moving toward God.
Having read the book a couple of years ago, I agree with the pastor’s 13 heresies. And I objected most to the mealy-mouthed Jesus, he seemed not at all like the Christ of the gospels.
But it might be a helpful book/movie for people who have suffered a horrific loss, like the man in the book whose daughter was murdered, to make them aware of God’s love for them. God can use many different ways to reach people.

.

Saw it this afternoon. Hadn’t read the book, knew nothing about it except it was supposed to have a Christian theme. Found it to be trite, new age gobbledygook. Forgive the guy who ravaged and murdered your daughter even though for all you know he is completely unrepentant, so I can “redeem” him. Whatever. Churchians will love it.

Yeah, totally un-Christian to forgive those who trespass against us. What loser came up with that idea? Bet it was the same idiot who said we turn the other cheek. We should hold grudges against those who hurt us because that’s what Christ told us to do. Oh, wait…

The key word is “repentant” Maybe you missed it. Christ also said it’s not right to throw the children’s bread to the dogs (in that specific case a Gentile woman) - what a jerk.

Based on your over the top emotional reaction to my post, I can only assume some connection to the book or movie? Did I criticize your magnum opus?

I think y’all both need to calm down for what Jesus did say to forgive them, too I think yes maybe the snarkiness was over reaction but at the same time I can certainly understand it this is not the place to be having an all-out verbal brawl.

Maybe I missed the word “repentant” because it’s not found in any of the Sacred Scripture I was making reference to. Jesus tells us to pray, “forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespassed against us” (Matt 6:12). Notice that nowhere in that passage, nor anywhere else in the Sermon on the Mount, does Christ command us to forgive only if someone is repentant. In fact, the entire Sermon commands us to forgive REGARDLESS of the other person’s repentance or lack thereof. (cf. Matt 6:21-26, 38-48, 7:1-5)

This same idea is repeated throughout Scripture. For instance when Peter asks how many times he must forgive his brother (Matt 18:21-22), and on the Cross when Christ says, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

We are called to forgive others and to love them unconditionally, not just those who we know are repentant.

I liked the movie. Peeps, the movie was FICTION, therefore, just a pretend story. Why in the world would I therefore expect it to be Catholic or check for heresy? Just like when I sat and watched the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean”, I watched a movie that was a work of fiction. I didn’t leave that movie saying it was anti-history or scientific inaccuracies because they had skeleton pirates walking on the ocean floor…

I saw a few YouTube video reviews calling the film blasphemous. I consulted a friend who read the book, she agreed that indeed it is. There is a lot of watering-down and twisting topics to fit the globalist agenda in all areas of our lives. Faith is being attacked from every level, in every form of media. If they can lead you in, and transform your beliefs or change your thinking, they win. But, TRUTH will win in the end. Don’t waste your time on this movie.

Happy Happy Joy Joy. Nothing matters except what we think matters. :banghead:

There does not seem to be a lighting striking emoji 🤷
