When my wife and I were preparing to get married, we attended a class in preparation from an old priest out of Nebraska. Father had been a priest for more than 50 years. He always had a story to share. With so many natural disasters occuring, I wanted to share a story father once told.
Father related that he had received a phone call to come to the hospital for someone who was dying. He was driving down a highway on the way to the hospital when he noticed a tornado coming right in his direction. Father stopped the car and got out. He made the sign of the cross in the direction of the tornado. The tornado suddenly stopped and changed direction. I have heard of other priests relate similar stories. Not all father"s calls ended like this. He related a story of being called to the hospital on the deathbed of a lady. Some people were caught out in a corn field when a tornado went through. The lady had her entire body embedded with corn. The doctors could do nothing to save her. Father administered the last rites of the church.
God has given Bishops and priests great powers. Jesus told his apostles after raising Lazuras from the dead that they would do greater things. Church History shows , Saints raised people from the dead and converted entire cities. They performed miracles that astounded eyewitness testimonies. God gave priests great power even over nature itself. In modern times we need to use the means of the Catholic Church even in times of natural disasters.
