The Silence From Heaven And The Suffering And Evil on Earth.

Can the silence from heaven serve as a proof that God is Good and Just? If we accept the teachings of the Catholic Church as true could not the silence from heaven of those who have gone before us serve as a proof that the suffering and evil on earth is not due on account that God is a cruel and unjust God?

I consider the Virgin Mary, Moses and Elijah and others who have returned to earth from heaven and they do not accuse God, but instead advice us to be obedient, pray, follow the commandments etc…These souls have experienced death, have seen Jesus in His glorified body and are in heaven and they do not accuse God. The martyred saints (Revelation) do not accuse God of being callous to the suffering and evil in the world, instead, they request vindication.

1 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”

5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

Couldn’t the silence from heaven tell us something? Why is it that the inhabitants of heaven do not accuse God?

I have no idea about the motivation behind the silence of Mary on the subject of suffering in this world.

The silence of God is a major theological question.

Answer: Yes. The problem exists not with the sender, but with the receiver.

Answer: No and for the same reason as earlier. The problem lies with the receiver and not with the sender.

Now - as to the subject of you post. I find this most interesting and agree. Of course, those who “accuse God” etc, likely will not accept the testimonies you mention.

Good point well made. I’m sorry if I come across really pedantic here (and I certainly don’t want to start a philosophical debate ha ha), but I always feel this question trips itself up in the first statement. “If a tree falls in the forest”, for me concedes that the tree is subject to gravity and, consequently, the physical laws of the universe. Using the physical laws established, which I feel the first statement concedes, the energy of the fall will be dispersed as heat and sound energy upon impact with the ground (regardless of the presence of people). Just a thought.

In this case there is no “receiver” in the forest. More pertinently: “If there is a man in the forest, and no woman is present, is he still wrong?”

If God speaks and no one “has ears to hear”, is God silent?

Answer: No and for the same reason as earlier. The problem lies with the receiver and not with the sender.

I love it when the blame is always placed on the “receiver”. Can anyone close his ears to a “thunderclap”, when the lighling strikes a few feet from the reciever? If the sender happens to speak (for example) in ultrasound, and the receiver’s ears are not able to perceive it, then it is the sender who is at fault for not using the proper wavelength.

Of course the silence could be due to the fact that there is nothing or no one there to speak. Or it could be due to the fact that there are “souls” up there, who would very much want to communicate with us (maybe urge us to mend our ways) but they are forcefully prevented by the powers-that-be. Or maybe those departed could not care less about our fate - but in that case they lost their “love” for us… maybe due to some brainwashing process.

hahaha this sounds funny, sounds like an athiest. Besides im a big fan of the silent God, he has given us his word Jesus christ there is nothing else to speak listen to christ and the spirit in you. Anybody looking for a ‘moses at mount sinai looking at the glory God’ is looking for emptiness because the divine glory is supose to be within you that is the message of christ. Anybody looking for extra revelation like the thuder clap is…
