I’m I being too sensitive when I am offended by the Halloween episode last night when Marge asks" What kind of people eat the flesh and blood of their saviour?"

Oh, noI’m I being too sensitive when I am offended by the Halloween episode last night when Marge asks" What kind of people eat the flesh and blood of their saviour?"
The reason behind my question was more a probe of the the question Marge asks “What kind of people eat the flesh and blood of their Saviour?” Does it say those people believe that God is present and can be be perfect communion with him or does it say, that is a really sick attitude toward Jesus Christ?… to complain of a programme because of one line in it strikes me as showing a lack of proportion. If Catholics are going to criticise the media effectively, they need, IMO, to pick their battles: because non-stop complaining about every tiny detail found offensive risks losing the sympathies of those complained to: so that if really serious offensive is caused about something of great importance, complaints about it would risk being treated as yet more Catholic moaning, and not be given due weight. Bill Donohue complains non-stop about every least shadow of an insult - so he loses influence; not surprisingly.
VERY good postI use to love the simpsons. I still like the show. But you’re right. Like most shows Christianity seems to cop more than its fair share of ridicule. To the point where it has just gotten boring to be honest. Other religions seem to get a easier go of it. such as Buddhism. I guess scienctology will never get a mention as the woman who does the voice of bart is a scienctologist.(sp). What gets me is the hyprocosy of shows and not just the simpsons. They go on like they are doing raw edge take no holds comedy. But all they do is pick the target that is the easiest or the one that wont lead to them getting death threats. Yet tip toe around all the other religions. Look at any show where the mainactor is an atheist. Its always the Christians traditions which are singled out and ridiculed. Its getting to the point where i’m beyond being offended. And just offer up a big yawn when they go into their anti christian rant.
Complaining about a shadow of an insult does make one look paranoid, but be careful. If I were going to tear down a building in front of someone’s eyes and didn’t want to be blamed for it, I wouldn’t use a stick of dynamite. I would get them used to seeing me take one brick at a time away, until they wondered where the building was.Having seen the offending segment and scene, I think so. In the context, it’s perfectly appropriate - and the idea of eating one’s saviour or god is far from peculiar to Catholics; it’s common to a good number of non-Christian cults, throughout the world. Catholics are aware of the idea merely because their religion makes a place for the idea; but it is found elsewhere too.
Even if the idea were pecular to Catholicism, to complain of a programme because of one line in it strikes me as showing a lack of proportion. This is one of the worst shows. What else is new? So much garbage on tv. Anything to put the church down. I can’t believe children too are watching this show. (parents allow it)Pray for these people. Pray for those who do not like our Catholic faith.I’m I being too sensitive when I am offended by the Halloween episode last night when Marge asks" What kind of people eat the flesh and blood of their saviour?"
That’s pretty much where I’m at, too. They take another potshot at Catholics. That’s a new one.I use to love the simpsons. I still like the show. But you’re right.
