In The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 10 Verse 4 states:

The slack hand impoverishes, but the hand of the diligent enriches.

Please explain how the slack hand impoverishes.

If you’re lying around doing nothing and not working, that’s “the slack hand.” (There’s a connotation of laziness, rather than being sick or having nothing to do.)

If you’re not working and gaining resources, you must be spending and losing resources.

If you’re losing resources, you’re getting poorer.

So the non-working hand impoverishes, and the hard-working hand enriches.

This true in the spiritual sense also. If we are not growing, we are dying. We must be constantly trying to more obedient, to please (bless) God.

There is an analogy in aviation (full disclosure – I am not a pilot, but I have spent a LOT of time playing Flight Simulator). If your flying, and you cut the power (= stop trying, stop growing), you don’t stay at the altitude that you were at when you cut the power; you go DO-O-O-OWN! :bigyikes:
