Around where I live there seems to be a growth in interest in the intercessions to the Sleeping St Joseph. This is actually used by Pope Francis who has a statue of a sleeping St Joseph next to his bed. Whenever he has issues or problems he writes them down and puts them under the sleeping St joseph statue. Apparently he often gets his problems/issues answered.

As you know, St Joseph (whom many regard as the top Saint after Mary… But we should not debate which saint is the greater as the apostles have done during Jesus’ ministry…) never says a word in Scripture. He gets dreams from God and always does as he is told. A great example of humility, simplicity and faithfulness for us.

“When I have a problem, a difficulty, I write a little note and I put it underneath Saint Joseph, so that he can dream about it! In other words I tell him: pray for this problem!”

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Saint Joseph, whom the Son of God received as Father, pray for us, with our problems – in our family, with our health and with our work until our last, and deign to come to our aid at the hour of our death.

Prayer to St. Joseph

O God, who in Thine unspeakable providence didst vouchsafe to choose blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Thine own most holy Mother: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may deserve to have him for our intercessor in heaven, whom we reverence as our defender on earth: who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.

This sculpture of the sleeping Holy Family is my favorite Christmas decoration. I love the way St. Joseph is protecting the Blessed Mother and Baby Jesus.
 
Imagine the responsibility, to watch/take care of/protect/provide for the Son of God and the Mother of God. And St-Joseph never says a word in the NT but is always doing God’s will ‘no questions asked’. A pure example of power, humility, obedience, faithfulness, strength and caring.
