Hello again, Righteous One,

So far, I’ve learned much from your articles here. For example, I’ve learned that there is a group called “the Jews” which are all of one mind; a unified monolith which has as its prime purpose the destruction of Christianity.

I suppose between controlling the media, and owning all the banks, “the Jews” have a lot of free time left over to persecute Catholics.

Just as an aside, every time I turn on the television I end up wishing I could blame some identifiable group for the drivel that spews forth in the guise of popular entertainment, but that’s neither here nor there…
Well, that’s your opinion and your mission here is to try and make me look bad, but EVERY ONE OF MY POSTS I HAVE DEFENDED THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. And will continue to do so. I will defend Christ until the end.
And if I, ONE PERSON out of the MANY CATHOLICS HERE on this forum make you supposedly change your mind about the faith, THAT PROVES RIGHT THERE, you don’t think much of Catholicism anyway.
And many, many people DO have respect for my church, you are the only one who doesn’t. I can say the same thing about you. That your attitude toward the Catholic church makes people dislike Jews.
Nothing on this forum proves anything. Hashem Echad is not the only Jew in the world. She doesn’t speak for “the Jews” and is only an adherent of the religion.

I’d hate to think that you, with your far out ideas, would ever be seen as the representative of Christianity. You’re not, right? You’re just a believer who speaks for himself, as a Christian.

I respect your church, and I respect you as a person, but I don’t agree with a lot of your beliefs. Do you understand how this is possible? Life is not black and white. Life is an endless series of colors on an infinite spectrum.

Take Care,

LaMar

Well Lamar, I didn’t expect anything less from you as a non-Catholic anyway. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

LaMar,

I have worked with good, decent Catholics for about 25 years now, in the ecumenical movement. NEVER have I met one like this person before.

And unfortunately, all it often takes is one bad apple to ruin the whole barrel, and I truly fear that may happen to me.

I don’t want what he/she is saying on this forum to ruin it for me, for the entire Catholic church, because I have known many good Catholics, most of all the late John Cardinal O’Connor, who was not only a saintly Prince of the church but a truly ethical, decent human being.

I am going to use the control features on this forum to place “righteousone” on permanent ignore, not because what he/she says cannot be answered, but because I truly fear that his/her antics will make me begin, for the first time in my life, to hate his/her church and all it stands for.

I don’t want to become a hater like him/her; that has been my life goal, to NOT be like that, to try to understand other religions so as to help minimize the hate that religious differences so often cause.

How truly SAD that I even have to do something like this.

You’ve already had this hatred inside of you.

This makes no sense in context.

I don’t believe “the Jews” (at least as you envision them) exists as a monolithic group.

My wife had grandparents who didn’t control the media, didn’t own a bank, worked hard all their lives and loved their Catholic neighbors in the 90% Catholic town they moved to after WWII. They had kids who converted to Christianity and Mormonism. They didn’t make a fuss about this, disown them or persecute them. These are the Jews I have known. They don’t seem to live up to the whacked out spookshow you’ve created between your ears.

I don’t know why Christians hate Jews anyway. The most religious of both groups all pray to the same G-d (who I’m pretty sure doesn’t exist) and sing the praises of all the same literary heroes. They all believe in the same basic rules about decency and civility and citizenship. So, what’s the problem?

From the perspective of a skeptic, you guys really don’t have much to squabble about.

Hey HashemEchad,

Like you, I know many Catholics. None of the Catholics I know in the real world would behave the way some on this message board commonly do. Of course there are Mormons who are whack-jobs also, so this is more a critique of human nature than of any one religious group.

There’s nothing wrong with using the ignore feature. I think it’s a great tool to filter out the noise in favor of interesting articles from proficient writers.

There are really only a tiny handful of people here who generate almost all the useless noise. Filter 5 of the most prolific time-wasters and see what a difference it makes.

Of course, those on the other side of the aisle are welcome to filter you (and me too) likewise, then everyone gets to concentrate on what they feel is most interesting.

A moderator had told me how to use it previously, what a shame I didn’t do it before! Its saved me a lot of time that was wasted before, and makes the discussions here much more enjoyable!

Christians DO NOT hate Jews Lamar and you know that. It is the other way around.

Hashem tells me that I took the name of God in vain (what a joke, she doesn’t even know what that means), yet she DENIES God.

Ain’t that calling the kettle black…🤷

Neither “Christians” nor “Jews”, as you describe them, exist.

Some Christians hate Jews.

Some Jews hate Christians.

Most Jews and Christians don’t bother hating anyone else, as hatred is a waste of time.

I bet you were a math major, weren’t you? It’s always those guys who have such a hard time appreciating the gray areas of life.

You don’t like Jews. We get it. It’s cool. Why don’t you concentrate on the things you do like, and quit worrying about Jews altogether.

Where did I say I don’t like Jews? I told you my best friend is Jewish. These are YOUR misinterpretations, not mine.
When the Jews stop talking about how they were constantly persecuted and killed by the Christians, is when I will stop talking about it too.

Most Jews I know do not hate Christians; they only hate what many Christians have done in the name of their god, to Jews. After all, auto da fe’s, forced baptisms, expulsions, false blood libels, etc do tend to leave a bad taste in one’s mouth over the centuries.

I do not hate Christians; to do so, I’d have to hate half my family, and all of my husband’s family!

Hey Hashem:

I just found out this forum has an ignore list.

So I just added a member to this list (if you know what I mean).

It works really slick. It also prevents me from getting ticked off and perhaps writing something I wish I had taken back.

Maybe you could try it if it suits your fancy.

Ha ha! I beat ya to the punch!

A moderator told me about it a few days ago, I finally decided to use it earlier this morning.

Works like a charm! 😉

Oh yes, the old “I’m not bigoted, some of my best friends are (Jews, Catholics, ______” ploy. I hope you friend isn’t reading this thread. He or she might soon become an ex-friend. I sure would.

After 60 years, I still find it unbelievable that supposedly educated people can spout such illogical drivel as THE Jews did this; THE Catholics did that; THE Hispanics are this; etc.

First of 9, you don’t know me so who are you to judge me? Non-Catholic Christians and others are doing quite a good job blaming others here.

S/he was just pointing out the “some of my best friends” excuse that so many people use, when called to account for their bigotry.

I laughed at it, but wasn’t going to say anything.

Well, my Jewish best, best friend in the whole wide world, probably for some 30 years and I joke all the time. She tells me to pray for her at Mass, I tell her to don’t forget me when you have a sale. 😃
