What I mean is this; you cannot knock on a door somewhere in the universe and find that God opens it and he looks you straight in the face. You cannot ever shake hands with God or sit down and have a cup of tea with him. He isn’t physical. He is universal. The great “I AM”. Not the great “here I am”.

Does this help you better?

No. He still created us in his image, and the picture you paint of him would mean that we should describe ourselves as not a godly image at all. Which contradicts the bible.

Schn, remember that this thread is actually in the philosophy section.

God cannot be found anywhere. He doesn’t have sexual organs! Look at biology for an example, what would God do with a sexual organ? Nothing! He couldn’t use it for anything! He is God.

Hm . . . actually, God can be found everywhere, right? 🙂 But He can’t be contained or properly perceived by mortal senses in a complete way. That is to say, we cannot say with all certainty “God is here and only here; we’ve found all of him”, like we can for a human being enfleshed in a body.

You know perfectly well that’s not what the Bible meant; you just enjoy being difficult. Our being reflects God’s own image in the sense that we are persons just like God is a person expressing love, anger, concern, care, compassion, justice, fairness, etc., not in the sense that God has freckles or is 6 ft. tall with brown hair and blue eyes…sheesh.

How do you know? Why is your interpretation of the bible more right than mine. And how does a child being indoctrinated know that? Do preachers tell them that?

Please. It’s all over scripture, both old and new testament. Just read it for youself.

God cares, gets angry, loves his people, is merciful and forgivine, lays down laws, makes covenants, tells adam and eve to have dominion over the earth just as He is their father and they his sons and daughters. Be fruitful and multiply just as I have created you from the dust of the earth to make your descendents as numerous as the stars…where should I stop? God is both human and divine. He is divinely human. Humanly divine. And Jesus did have sex organs! lol.

I guess that settles it than. Jesus was the son of god, therefore god has compatible human DNA to knock up Mary with.

That doesn’t logically follow.

The person of Jesus is the Son of God
Therefore, the person of the Father has DNA

The person of Jesus is the Son of God
Therefore, the person of the Father has DNA

The Father is never mentioned in the New Testament as a flesh and blood human being walking the Earth. That role is reserved for the Son alone in the Trinity.

How does it not follow that the father has DNA? How can you be the son of god without half the DNA of god.

…the argument is invalid because the conclusion doesn’t follow from the premises.

There are too many possibilities because we’re talking about an alleged miracle–God planted DNA and is not a human being. God planted DNA and is a human being. Or God causes mitosis among Mary’s cells, etc, etc.

But it by no means follows that the Father is a human being of flesh and blood. That’s all your own speculation that is all unbiblical anyways.

How is his not being basically human shaped not also speculation.

That the Father is human is highly unlikely because it is not mentioned anywhere in the the New Testament. And there is more evidence to support that he is not, than that he is. E.g. “Angel announcing to Mary that she was pregnant to her and Joseph’s own consternation and surprise.”

But he at least has to have DNA lying around somewhere. And the bible says he’s the same general shape, at least.

Man… what a question!!! Just wow. 🙂
God cannot have sexual organs, since he does not have a physical body! Come on, agree with me here.
Prove it! You would have me believe that Jesus has a physical body and took it to Heaven, the Spirit has a physical body all around it… why wouldn’t the Cause be similar to the effect?

I could have looked him straight in the face a couple thousand years ago, apparently… AND SHAKEN HIS HAND!!

I look at other children of God on a daily basis.

HAHA… God had intestines, a stomach, a colon, and a rectum!! Some people would have you believe that God defecated but did not use his sexual organs. And if he urinated, technically he DID use his sexual organs… if Jesus were really God. 🤷

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

So divinely human that he doesn’t defecate??
How does it not follow that the father has DNA? How can you be the son of god without half the DNA of god.
That is quite the point. 😃 Man… I love this question.

Where does it say this?

The Father has no shape. And the Father can do anything he wants to intercede on the physical. But this doesn’t suggest he has a body.
