Has anyone here seen the story of God put on by National Geographic and is it interesting?
 
It is pretty interesting, but a fair amount of Morgan Freeman’s statements on Christianity are erroneous. In the latest episode he speaks of Jesus as “the chosen one”. Jesus wasn’t chosen per se, he was God made man.

“Chosen one” is, I think, an Old Testament name for Jesus. There’s an Orthodox website that goes throughs all of the names given to Christ. Here’s a podcast just on that one.

The title “the chosen one” appears to be a messianic title.
Behold my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen, in whom my soul delights;
I have put my Spirit upon him,
he will bring forth justice to the nations. (Isaiah 42:1)

And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen*; listen to him!” (Luke 9:35) *Other ancient authorities read my Beloved.

And the people stood by, watching; but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” (Luke 23:35)
