A great saint, father of Western monasticism, a Father of the Church, who died in the year 543, he is still very well remembered by the Catholic Church because of his great, God-given impact on the Church and the world through the centuries.
I love St Benedict. Well, I was in the novitiate at a Benedictine monastery for two years, so he and his sister – Saint Scholastica – are dear to my heart.

It was great being a Benedictine because we got to celebrate two feast days for Saint Benedict – March 21 (the day of his death and the traditional feast day) AND July 11 (new feast day as of 1970). 👍
